Gregg Olsen is a first class true crime author. A Wicked Snow proves he has the talent to be an excellent fiction writer too. All the characters are well rounded, the scenarios they find themselves in are realistic and obviously well researched. I found myself warming not only to the main characters immediately but also those who were of a more dubious character had an appeal that made me want to read about and understand their motivations.
True Crime books, if written well, explain the lives and tragedies of real people, the research time these books take is lengthy and detailed. Mr. Olsen uses his experience in that genre to create a world where his fictional crimes are real, are in fact almost legendary and has the reader believing they could actually happen.
A second book is on its way, a taster of which is at the back of A Wicked Snow. I for one will be buying it and I await its release with baited breath.
