I read this really quickly, it was a real page turner, and I couldn't put it down.I liked the pace, and the characters, I really felt involved with the story.I felt it was believable and I liked the way my sympathy shifted during the course of the book, without putting in a spoiler, I think you really feel for the characters.Good ending as well, really enjoyed it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect mystery, fast paced and full of action 18 Aug 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This is the first book I have read by this author but it definitely won't be the last. This book is everything I look for in a book. I read it in one sitting because from page one I was hooked and could not put it down. It is only a short Novella but there is plenty of story.

The story has plenty of twists and turns and is fast paced. Every chapter ends leaving you wanting more.

Michael Barton returns home from work only to discover his one week old son is missing. This sparks a hunt but is very difficult as there have been no clues left whatsoever.

Michael Barton and Detective Jason Stron build up a strong relationship. I especially liked Jason's character and loved reading about him.

I also loved the description of the relationship between the Duncan family and Michael and Tammy's relationship.

The story follows the different lives of a few characters and every story is compelling. I think the author has done a fantastic job of keeping the reader engaged. I also think that the author has paved the way for sequels with some of the sub characters, I would definitely be interested to find out what happens to some of the characters in the future.

This book has a lot of dark moments and throughout the story kept me guessing, I did not predict how it's story would end at all. To me this is a must in all mystery stories.

I don't want to spoil the story so I won't give anything away all I can say is this book is gripping and I had to stop for breath whilst reading it as it is a real page turner. I may also read this again in the future.

A strong five stars from me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just superb! 14 Mar 2014

A book that I personally found truly enthralling. Well written and delivers on all the main ingredients that I feel make up a superb crime, mystery and thriller.

I very much look forward to reading the rest in this series and will be keeping my eyes wide open for others by this author who is definitely now firmly ensconced on my favourite author list.

Truly deserves every one of the five stars given.

This starts so gently then ends up a bit gorey,, I enjoyed it and in a way understand why this man did what he did,, as i think anyone could go a little mad if we went through what he did.

3.0 out of 5 stars Grief is it conducive to murder? 3 Jan 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The problem with story is that none of the characters are particularly sympathetic.
it could do with a longer story line and additional characterisation.
I would like to read more by Mr. English and when I say more I mean as well as stories a more in depth novel.
Having said all that it is still a decent book.
As most of my own school reports summarise. Good effort can do better.
