Having read all the reviews on this product, I hesitated due to the amount of complaints regarding inadequate packaging causing damage to discs prior to arrival. However despite this I went ahead and ordered. To my surprise it came in a sturdy box within a box, was enveloped in crushed brown paper and suspended in-between two plastic suspension grips (so the complaints must have had an effect). Then I installed it, my Bios recognised it, it also appeared in Device Manager but failed to appear in the 'Computer' Window with a designated Drive #. I was frantic I tried everything, went online to find the answer to no avail. Then after several hours of head scratching, perchance I typed 'Disc Management' in the 'Search programmes & Files' Box under 'Start' and hey-presto up came 'Create and Format Hard Drive Partitions' and from there it was plain sailing. You can name a disk, format it and play around with the Drive Letters and Paths. The Disc is now visible, works well, is cool and runs silently. So if you come across this problem, I hope it helps and stops you going through the same rigmarole I went through.
