Review

'If you want to make a difference then I can do no better than to recommend this book.' Daily Telegraph 'Michael Norton is a one-man "ideas factory" whose new book suggests some whacky ways in which, with a little bit of effort, people really can change the world for the better.' Guardian 'By far the most enticing and informative book!I finally stopped being a cynic.' Daily Mail 'If you want to help bring about change but don't know where to start, this is the book for you!packed with ideas, information and useful websites.' Woman and Home 'This book has something for every day of the year and makes you think about the state of the planet; pollution, corruption, aids, starvation, disease and the lack of freedom to name but a few.' Impac News --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

Product Description

A call to action, as well as an irreverent practical guide, this ingenious handbook is also an almanac, a reference book, a careers guide, a good gift and - above all - an eye opener.

5.0 out of 5 stars The ideal gift book for family and friends, 5 Jan 2006
This is a great reference book; full of great ideas to improve the planet that we all live on, and also ideas to improve the lifestyles of people who are more dis-advantaged than we are. What you get are 365 ideas and plans for a "future course of action", which includes links on the Internet, which allows you to quickly to explore these ideas further.
It is full of facts and figures on a wide variety of subjects.

4.0 out of 5 stars Inspiring and enormously motivating, 3 Sep 2008
By C. L. Foster - See all my reviews

As the title suggests, there is an idea for each day of the year on how we can make a difference to the wider world, smaller commmunities we live in or just our own lives. The ideas vary greatly and are catergorised by themes, such as "culture and creativity", "discrimination", "environment" or "health". I have often found myself amazed at the ideas and information offered, yet the vast majority feel very achieveable... such as be a helpline volunteer, hold a street party or become a virtual volunteer. There is no intimidating amount of text to read, either. A fantastic resource.

4.0 out of 5 stars An informative book to help people get more green, 10 Sep 2006
By A. Tatton "tatton" (stoke newington) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
It's a very informative book, with a different activity for each day, great ideas to give our world and ourselves a better future. I found its premise quite good - getting people to act in a more positive way on different issues. But are these 'themes' or priorities Michael Norton's or have they been voted on by others? He doesn't seem to care much about disabled or older people or women much - they don't have their own theme but young people do. In my view young people and children get quite enough resources and attention. His other quests aren't ambitious enough. There should be free education and health care full-stop, not just 'universal primary education'.

I would also prefer a 'Dictionary of Activism' or something similar as the 365 things to do on each day are just too big to do on each day. I will be buying this book at some point when I've got some money. At the moment it's borrowed from the library.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ok....
I loved the book, but I have to say it's not what i'd consider a 'sit-down-and-read-in-one-afternoon' book. Read more
