This is Rhydian's third album and the third different style of album he has adopted. Here he lends his voice to 10 slightly obscure 80s tracks, only three of which I was already familiar with (I was born in '72). In that respect it does not feel like a covers album. As a classically trained singer one would be forgiven for finding his move into the pop world a little odd (especially when the reverse seems to be the in thing these days). However, his rich baritone voice is well suited to the 80s era and a must for any fan of the 80s (or indeed Rhydian).

Can only echo what others have said, brilliant album. Change of direction for Rhydian but a very welcome one, love the '80's styling in his voice and glad he didn't go for the obvious 80's choices. Hopefully he'll do a tour again soon

As a huge Rhydian fan I didn't really expect not to like this new album, despite it being a significant move away from his previous classically influenced albums. Knowing it was a new wave era album also added to the high probability that I'd like it as I love most music from the 80's.

So it's fair to say I had very high expectations! However I was totally shocked and stunned to be completely blown away by each and every track.

Rhydian has chosen lesser known tracks but which still epitomise this era of the 80's, he has kept their arrangement true to the original, yet in the words of Simon Cowell, completely made them his own. His versions of Tower of Strength (hard to beat the Mission in terms of the emotional feeling, but Rhydian has certainly done so) and The Promise are breathtaking.

So with fantastic song choices, a beautiful velvet voice (which incidently does sound totally different from the classical songs he sings) whilst maintaining original 80s musicality and the gorgeous, hardworking man that is Rhydian, this is a must buy for any Rhydian fan, child of the 80s, those loving the 80s revival and in fact anybody who says they love music.

GO AND BUY YOUR COPY NOW, YOU DEFINITELY WON'T REGRET IT.

When I realised that Rhydian's third album was to be pop and 80s hits I was not sure if I would like it. When I saw the art work I was still doubtful, but I was hooked as soon as I heard Parade (excellent video too). Waves is another facet of Rhydian's undoubted talent. It grows on me each time I listen to it and new favourites emerge as I become familiar with each track.

This I think is the best album by Rhydian so far. I really liked the other 2, but LOVE this one. I can't stop playing it since I brought it. It's VERY different from the first 2, but somehow much better. I'd recommend it to anyone. Happy listening.

All I knew of Rhydian was he was that plonker from the X Factor who sang opera.
When I was lent a copy of this cd and was told I would love it I was not amused, but as PARADE began to play I was captivated, this track is stunning, then THE PROMISE again brilliant, and the whole album is a treat.I have since played this to death,it has become one of my all time favourite albums.I do hope this is the first of many,a great idea to mix his unique voice and the modern backing, these are songs from the 80's but you would'nt know, they all sound fresh.
Sorry Rhydian for thinking of you as a plonker, you are the main man.
I have only given this review four stars because it is a bit short at only ten tracks and I want MORE!

Rhydians's latest album displays yet another facet of this performers talent.

Being a Yank, the songs were all new to me (maybe it's being old too.) I enjoyed hearing his voice in a different milieu and with more of Rhydian in it. I can only say that I enjoyed the album although it is not my favorite.

I have Rhydian's first album and really liked it - heard bad reviews about his second CD and never bought it, but after hearing The Promise on Daybreak, I simply had to buy the CD. It's fab, I love 80's music, so it brings back a few memories, I particular like the song Waves and The Promise. If you are 'of a certain age' you will love this. I highly recommend it.
