Ditto!!,

Can only echo what others have said, brilliant album. Change of direction for Rhydian but a very welcome one, love the '80's styling in his voice and glad he didn't go for the obvious 80's choices. Hopefully he'll do a tour again soon

Another FANTASTIC CD from Rhydian,
This review is from: Waves (MP3 Download)
WAVESAs a huge Rhydian fan I didn't really expect not to like this new album, despite it being a significant move away from his previous classically influenced albums. Knowing it was a new wave era album also added to the high probability that I'd like it as I love most music from the 80's. So it's fair to say I had very high expectations! However I was totally shocked and stunned to be completely blown away by each and every track. Rhydian has chosen lesser known tracks but which still epitomise this era of the 80's, he has kept their arrangement true to the original, yet in the words of Simon Cowell, completely made them his own. His versions of Tower of Strength (hard to beat the Mission in terms of the emotional feeling, but Rhydian has certainly done so) and The Promise are breathtaking. So with fantastic song choices, a beautiful velvet voice (which incidently does sound totally different from the classical songs he sings) whilst maintaining original 80s musicality and the gorgeous, hardworking man that is Rhydian, this is a must buy for any Rhydian fan, child of the 80s, those loving the 80s revival and in fact anybody who says they love music. GO AND BUY YOUR COPY NOW, YOU DEFINITELY WON'T REGRET IT.

Rhydian's finest hour!,

This review is from: WAVES (Audio CD)
This is Rhydian's third album and the third different style of album he has adopted. Here he lends his voice to 10 slightly obscure 80s tracks, only three of which I was already familiar with (I was born in '72). In that respect it does not feel like a covers album. As a classically trained singer one would be forgiven for finding his move into the pop world a little odd (especially when the reverse seems to be the in thing these days). However, his rich baritone voice is well suited to the 80s era and a must for any fan of the 80s (or indeed Rhydian).
