4.0 out of 5 stars On:the transcendant lyricism of the first side 31 Dec 2013
By Ken Raus VINE VOICE
The first side of this first solo 1972 album by Walsh with his then band,Barnstorm, has some of the most lyrical and lovely songs you'll ever find on a modern rock record that are far overshadowed by his bigger commercialler hits like the famous bluesy hard rock Rocky mountain way and the album that was on,The smoker you drink, the player you get, definitely overshadows this earlier one.

Music is as indescribable as literary fiction but anyone interested in Walsh music must hear this first side especially featuring as it does Here we go,Midnight visitor,One and one,Giant behemoth and Mother says...and then onto to side two that features the only normal rocker from this set,Turn to stone, perhaps a standby of his live set.

The b side is pleasant enough foksy rock with a soft rock cover,I'll tell the world,I can personally live without but I only dock one star for this side because of the sublime excellence and even musical genius of the first side that weaves the sound of the synthesiser so well with Walsh's skillful acoustic and electric guitarwork to showcase his superb songs ...get a version of this whatever one,CD or record or Youtube the songs of side A.
