Everyone knows Laurel and Hardy, Chaplin, and other stars of the thirties.
In their shadow, W.C. Fields added something new into film.
If L & H produced light irony regarding their time, W.C Fields pushed forward with unforbidding sarcasm and even subversism.
In W.C Fields world, married women are all monsters (even worse than in the L & H films), people with good manners are all jerks, the "American Dream" is portraiteted as something absolutely ridiculous, frustrating and dumb.
In W.C Fields world there`s no hope for a life in paradise. All man`s effords to get into their dreamworld are crushed without any mercy.
The genious is, the failure and incapability of man to get happy, comes to life in an unbelievably hilarious way.
For W.C Fields there`s no hope but boose, but after all these years, his message is still worth while to see.

I wouldn't have bought this if I had known it didn't contain the film I wanted. I was unable to find out what exactly was on it as no other information supplied. For your information it has three shorts The Golf Specialist, The Dentist, The fatal glass of beer. It was ok.

This is a great old movie; WC Fields at his best. Sound quality was not perfect and had to be turned up, but this is acceptable in such an old film.
If you like straightforward comedy that makes you laugh, this is for you.
