5.0 out of 5 stars Wüsthof CLASSIC Cook's knife 20 cm 16 Dec 2013

As a keen home cook I decided to invest in a couple of good knives, I was not disappointed, this knife is excellent, it is a good size, very sharp, not too heavy and the hollow ground edge helps prevent items sticking to the blade.

It is expensive but should last for years if sharpened occasionally. (I have owned it a few months, I use it every day and it is still sharp).

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the money 10 Dec 2012

Not cheap but worth every penny. Very sharp and stayed sharp for several months before I needed to sharpen it. Works well in turnip which is always a good test of sharpness and the releasing grooves.

5.0 out of 5 stars Top Of The Line and Worth It 29 Nov 2010

If you're looking for quality cutlery then look no further than Wusthof. This knife is as good as it gets and well worth the cost. I initially thought the 8" model might be more than I need for everyday use, but after using it for a while now, I have to say that I'm so glad I didn't go smaller. This knife is substantial in all respects. The look and feel of it is superb. There are certainly other choices for a lot less money if you're shopping for cutlery, but I assure you you will not be sorry if you make the proper investment up front with this knife. I second another reviewer here and caution one to be very careful when using, as the blade is indeed sharp and has remained so since I first began working with it. Because of that, it is an absolute joy to use. Just be sure to wash it, dry it, and put it back in its block as soon as you're done with it. This knife is serious cutlery. You'll be in love with it the first time you slice into a tomato and find you can cut it as thin as you desire.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great chefs knife 3 Nov 2010

I recently purchased this knife for my son's birthday and he loves it! I have a good quality chefs knife in this price range but this knife is far superior. It feels balanced allowing it to cut very easily and smoothly. The hollow edge keeps food from sticking for better slicing and chopping of different food types. I am planning to ask for one for myself for Christmas!

5.0 out of 5 stars Super sharp 20 Feb 2013

I wish I could have gotten the 6" but, I got this on a lightening deal, so I can't complain too much. This is easily the nicest knife I've ever owned. If you're not sure about spending this much on a knife, and you love to cook, and currently using a department store brand, you won't regret buying this knife.

4.0 out of 5 stars As compared to Shun 17 Feb 2013

I am in no way a knife expert. I have owned several knives and I am partial to Shun. I decided to purchase this knife when it was on sale and I have to say I am very impressed. While I love Japanese knives (especially my Shun), this knife is heavy duty and will not chip in the same way a Shun could. While it does not have the same limitation it still is sharp enough. I find myself reaching for this knife often and I would recommend it to anyone.

Great knife for all of your food preparation needs. Chopping vegetables, cutting small and large cuts of meats in preparation for cooking. Dice vegetables with ease. No bending, good weight, precise even slices and balance. A delight to use in the kitchen. Highly recommend the Wusthof Classic line of cutlery
