Reviews

To (Chapman To), a long-time film producer, has yet to produce anything resembling a hit. Beset by financial troubles, he has become desperate for money - so much so that he is unable to pay the alimony to his ex-wife (Kristal Tin). Despite his former spouse's bitterness, their daughter still clings onto her faith in him - and wishes to see him on TV once his new movie premieres. To is soon introduced to a potential Mainland Chinese investor, Tyrannosaurus (Ronald Cheng), by his buddy Lui Wing-shing (Simon Loui Yu-yeung).

However, Tyrannosaurus is not only the head of a Guangxi triad gang, he turns out to have very particular tastes in food and sex. Regardless, To is determined to woo this investor, even if it means giving into his every demands. Tyrannosaurus eventually tells them to cast his childhood idol Yum Yum Shaw (Susan Shaw) in a remake of a classic pornographic film. He even gives the film the title Confessions of Two Concubines...

this is a really funny HK movie with chapman to. you might get a wrong impression of this movie after watching only the trailer. its really great and there is a lot of "drama" as well.

video and audio quality are top notch and there is a lot of bonus content such as interviews and other stuff in HD !!!

As a vulgar comedy, Vulgaria is much of a muchness, it has moments that are funny and moments that fall flat, its par for the territory. But that's not what makes the film of interest. That which sticks out most is its look into the HK film industry, not only does it prove to be a interesting expose into what it takes to get a film made, it also satirizes the state of their industry right now. Digging even deeper than that, Pang Ho-Cheung gives the film a genuinely sweet center with the father/daughter relationship. Yes, a estranged parental relationship informs Vulgaria most potently, rather than what Chapman To did with a certain mule.

Well not what I thought. If you're a fan of Asian films, and can get you're head around the missing translations, then there are laughes to be found. Give if a go.
