This CD+DVD-package is really, as another reviewer has written, a blast from the past - and a great one! As everybody knows, there are lots of 1980s compilations available, either on CD or on DVD. But if you own several of these DVDs, the songs and clips begin to repeat itselves. There may be a range of about 100 or so videos that are very popular and easy to get. BUT there is the rare stuff which is hardly available. And this is where the extraordinary compilation VOX POPS 1980s comes in.
It starts with Joy Division's epochmaking "Love Will Tear Us Apart", brings you Strawberry Switchblade, Echo And The Bunnymen, The Jesus And Mary Chain or more uplifting acts like Hothouse Flowers ("Don't Go") and Aztec Camera ("Somewhere In My Heart"), just to name a few. I've never seen Shakespeare's Sister's "You're History" or Yes' "Owner Of A Lonely Heart" on a 1980s compilation. So here you get - with a few exceptions like Banarama's unforgettable "Venus" - not the hypercommercial and most famous stuff, but outstanding songs and remarkable videos from the 1980s which you rarely find on another DVD. Not only the range of music is great, that goes for the picture quality, too (keep in mind that these clips are two or three decades old).
