Ken, you're a gem 19 April 2011
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is a must read book by an urbane and very funny man with a socially real perspective on politics. Thatcher and the reactionary rightwing press of the 80s couldn't kill him off and, of course, Boris has proved to be his greatest advertisement. Bring him back as London's Mayor or, better still, as leader of the Labour Party, where he could do even more good. We need his practical understanding of how to generate changes for greater social justice and we need it in a hurry. Since the country didn't actually give their mandate to the current bunch of fascists in Westminster it just proves the wisdom of the title of this book.

Love him or loathe him, Ken Livingstone has been such a big figure in British politics for several decades now. This interesting and often witty book charts his early political career, and his struggles against the Tory government in the 1980s. You get a real sense of what the man beleieves in and that he is truly passionate about the people he serves. One of the best political memoirs I have read in a long time!

This book had been recommended by a friend and I was lucky enough to find a used copy on Amazon. The copy I received was in first class condition. I found the book very interesting as it gives a good account of Ken Livinstone's political career. An enjoyable read.
