perfect for cats portion 17 April 2012

I had bought an Andrew James automatic feeder, I thought the reducers were in the box with the feeder, they were not, but I bought a pack & they are prefect for cat size meals & much easier to keep the feeder alot cleaner as the reducers come out to clean. Would recommend anybody to buy these along with the auto feeder.

I ordered 2 sets of these along with 2 automatic feeders. I was frustrated when they arrived to discover that I only had enough inserts for one cat feeder. I mistakenly assumed that one set would be enough for one feeder. I don't see the point of selling 2 dishes for a FOUR meal feeder. I realise I should have read the listing more carefully but thought it was worth pointing out in case anyone else assumes the same.

On a practical level, the inserts work well, they are not that solid but do the job and slot in easily. In terms of making it easier for the cat to eat from I'm not sure they make that much difference. I put 2 inserts in each feeder so every other compartment had one. Obviously I didn't see the cats eating from the feeder but when I came to clean it there wasn't any more food left in the compartments with no insert. But from a cleaning point of view it was much easier to clean the compartments that had inserts in them. I just removed the inserts, washed them, and gave the feeder a wipe. Cleaning the compartments with no insert was more tricky as I couldn't see a way to remove them from the feeder and they are quite deep. For this reason alone I am considering buying another 2 sets but I agree with a previous reviewer that they are rather overpriced, especially with shipping on top, and I think it is a bit mean they are not included with the feeder in the first place.

These make an important adjustment to the feeder that allows a smaller animal to get to their food. They are also easy to remove and clean so you don't have dismantle the whole device. Highly recommended!
