Ok Folks, Here It Is Goo Goo Dolls Greatest Hits Vol. 2! I Was Quite Surprised They Never Used Any Of The Tracks They Put On The "Ego, Opinion, Art & Commerce" Album (Which Was There First Complilation Album Containing Old & New Album Tracks From Before The Iris Era) But The Tracks They Picked For This Album Are The Ones I Always Felt Were Missing From The "Ego" Album, Tracks Like "Long Way Down" "Stop The World" & "I'm Awake Now" and There Are Great Covers On This Album Too Like "Million Miles Away" "I Don't Wanna Know" & "Don't Change", The Album Also Contains A Great Demo Version Of "Iris", But I Have To Say The Real Gem Of This Greatest Hits Is The DVD! 17 Videos Including "Iris" "Slide" & "Name" And A Full Live Show At Red Rocks Containing 19 Tracks, I Mean This Album Is A Must For Every Goo Goo Dolls Fan,
If Your Just Looking For An Album After You've Bought The First Greatest Hits Then Buy "Ego, Opinion, Art & Commerce"
Buy This For The DVD!!!!

As a fairly recent Goo Goo Dolls fan (before this year I'd only ever heard Iris!) I am stunned by this collection. I already have Greatest Hits Vol. 1, Dizzy Up The Girl and What I Learned About Ego, Opinion, Art & Commerce. I have to say that I was a bit nervous about hearing this collection of songs but having listened to it several times today, it's just amazing. It shows the brilliant versatility of a band that's been around for over 20 years and has grown and evolved into something very special. None of the songs sound like any of the others, there are raucous songs and soft, sentimental ones. There's really nothing to dislike about the whole collection. I was even pleasantly surprised by the demo version of Iris, so good to hear it how it started out. There are a couple of live tracks too so you get a good feel of what they're like in concert. Then, on the DVD you have all the videos which are brilliant and the Red Rocks concert tracks just show you what an amazing band The Goo Goo Dolls are. I will never get bored with this collection. I'd most definitely recommend it, not just to fans but to anyone who likes musical versatility as much as I do!

Love the Goo Goo Dolls but this one is focused more on the hard core fan, of which I'm fine with. Volume 1 is for the mainstream fan, although Volume 2 offers an insight into some of the bands earlier work which is supplemented by a live multi track DVD!

Lots of tunes you hear, but not sure who they're by. Amazing just how much the Goo Goo dolls have done. Great listening

History of the Goos music with Amazing DVD tracks 29 Aug. 2008
By Debra L. Chilton - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This CD/DVD is a must have collection for all Goo fans! The CD has great rarities, including the demo version of Iris, giving the opportunity to hear the transformation of the song from first recording to the monster hit version. This is a chance to hear the history of the Goo Goo Dolls and to take a listen back through time. The DVD has all the music videos, as well as some live performances from Red Rocks last year, and is again an opportunity to view the musical transformation of one of Americas best loved bands. Awesome is the best way to describe this CD/DVD collection. Buy it, you won't be disappointed.

This CD Rocks! 29 Aug. 2008
By Goo Fan - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This CD is for the diehard Goo fan. If you only know the Goo on the radio then this might be a surprise for you. The songs on the radio are the ballads and pop songs which are on Volume I. When you listen to this you will notice they can rock too! There are only a couple songs that I found hard to listen to and they were the old cover songs. I knew when I bought the CD that I might not like a few songs but it still did not keep me from buying. I am glad I did. I did not care about having all the videos as the music is the most important to me. I still consider it a bonus to have them. The Red Rocks concert is great! Any fan, diehard or not, will love it! This is truely a great band and this CD shows their progression over two decades. If you are looking for the songs mentioned above in the first review, check out EOAC - otherwise known as What I Learned About Ego, Opinion, Art, and Commerce. That's another great compilation CD.

Average music, great video collection 10 Sept. 2008
By Jonathan Oyama - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Goo Goo Dolls released most of their hits on "Greatest Hits: Vol. 1," leaving the not quite so great hits for "Vol. 2," with some 80s cover songs and a demo of "Iris." The collection of videos on disc two is incredible, but after a while, I got tired of all the Goo Goo.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Goo Goo Dolls. Even if radio stations don't play their really great hits ("Black Balloon") as much as they really should, the Goo Goo Dolls are a very good pop rock band. However, if anyone can imagine how nauseated they were with hearing "Iris" twenty million times on the station, they have yet to listen to the overdose of dramatic pop on "Vol. 2." All the Goo Goo Dolls' videos are on disc two, so everyone can now get their daily music video fix of John Rzeznik with this double-disc album.

And if that wasn't enough, the Goo Goo Dolls even added a video of five songs from their concert at Red Rocks, Colorado. And they also snuck in a performance of "Slide" in there as well. This is an excellent collection of goodies and treats from the band.

But be warned, do not try to listen to all the videos in one day. Believe me, I tried, and by the end, I didn't want to hear anymore of those pop hooks again.

But the Goo Goo Dolls are still a very good band. One especially good reason to get this album is for the obscure song from the "Batman and Robin" soundtrack, "Lazy Eye." This is the Goo Goo Dolls at their best, with the loudest and edgiest performance that would even make Billy Corgan proud.

And the Goo Goo Dolls play some great smashing punk renditions of 80s songs, such as "Slave Girl" by the Lime Spiders and "Don't Change" by INXS.

So even though I got tired of it, the Goo Goo Dolls' fans will snatch this collection from music stores (or amazon) immediately. And I just can't resist watching the video of "Black Balloon" over and over again.

I love the Goo Goo Dolls. However, the reason I am giving this 1 star is because all the music videos are not on here which is pure laziness. What's missing you ask? Better Days and Give a little bit. Two music videos I like. Why would this happen? It makes no sense. I hate when there is a release where its not complete. Also, on their website there was listed a full live performance. What happened? It was taken down and when I got the DVD it only had six tracks from Red Rocks? They could have easily fit the entire concert with all the music videos. This could have been a fantastic release. Their live cd from a few years ago was great, so I expected more from this release. Very disappointed certain music videos were left off and the entire concert wasn't put on here when it could have fitted. We expect more Goo Goo Dolls!

Good for a specific audience 10 Jan. 2009
By B. Sheris - Published on Amazon.com
If your a fan of the top-40 hits of the band, stick with Vol 1. If you've liked the band since "Superstar Carwash" and before, or are maybe tired of hearing Iris on the radio, give this disc a spin. Its not the rest of the radio-friendly hits. Its somewhat redundant to "Ego, Opinion, Art & Commerce," but American Girl, Million Miles Away and the Red Rocks video make it worth adding to the collection.
