Just like the curate's egg! Good in parts,
This review is from: The Volleyball Coaching Bible (The Coaching Bible Series) (Paperback)
Excellent title but the American origins of this book don't travel very well. The first third of the book may well bee applicable to the US college volleyball scene - marketing your programme, living up to your responsibilites as a coach but in the European context are just padding. Any book with a variety of contributors will suffer a variation in quality but while some chapters are really first class many look as though they are just a chance for another " college name" to be included. The editing is a little lax on ensuring that the same basic and "inspirational" points are not made very repetitively by successive contributors. Yes there are some gems in the book but overall it is a disappointing addition to the volleyball library.

Great fundamentals and motivational,

I have just finished this book before my club season is starting and I highly recommend it. The book applies to many areas of volleyball from youth to college/national and from men to women. If you are looking for a beginners coaching book that outlines the skills in detail with a bunch of drills, this is NOT the book for you. The caliber of contributors is excellent and the chapters were put together nicely...it flowed from front to back. I've played and coached for many years. I learned a few new things in this book, but I also felt like the book gave me a different perspective on areas I already knew. I will probably read/review this book prior to my club seasons. There were a few graphics/demonstrations. There were great pics illustrating Conditioning and Stretching. There were a few sketches of attacking and digging. Jim Coleman did a nice job on Statistics. 6 of 7 people found the following review helpful:

This book is worth every penny. It is written by the legends of the the game. I have read the book from cover to cover, and can still pick it up and learn something new. It has some great tips about how to motivate, communicate and teach everything about volleyball.

Volleyball Strategies,
By Kurt Faust - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: The Volleyball Coaching Bible (The Coaching Bible Series) (Paperback)
Having not played volleyball since junior high, I was looking for a good book that would give me an understanding of all angles of the game. This book is a collection of essays on each facet by different well respected coaches. Each coach was chosen according to their strong suit to lay out their individual strategies and techniques on a particular piece of the game. I found the book to be full of tidbits that make watching and playing the game much more enjoyable. The Volleyball Coaching Bible
