This manual contains the repair information provided by Volkswagen to their factory-trained technicians for T3 platform Vanagon models. It's heavily illustrated with high quality photographs and drawings, and covers routine maintenance and service work, including information on maintenance and repair of water-cooled engines and of Westfalia camper models. This Vanagon manual includes a special appendix section covering routine maintenance such as changing the oil, replacing light bulbs, or replacing the diesel fuel filter. Also included are factory maintenance tables and fluid and lubricant specifications and capacities. 1,388 pages, 2,295 illus/diagrams, 247 pages of wiring diagrams.

Expensive door stop,

It purports to be a workshop manual for the entire Vanagon (T25) model range but at least one engine (1.6 TD) is not even mentioned in the book at all. The list of gearboxes is similarly incomplete.Other information, eg the wiring diagrams, is not as complete as one might expect. Few, if any, of the pictures are of a high quality and there is barely enough text to explain the jobs. Fine if you are a VW mechanic by trade but most of us are not. There is also a massive reliance on specialist VW tools, which the home mechanic is not likely to have. There is little suggestion on how to work round this using standard tools. Try to avoid buying this book if at all possible.

Excellent resource manual,

If you do any work on a Vanagon yourself, it is indespensible. I highly recommend it to any Vanagon owner who is trying to keep their vehicle in good repair without going broke at the mechanic's shop.

The Bently book is by far the most descriptive. the pictures and diagrams are concise and clear. I have purchased many others but found the official manual the best. the only negative aspect of this Bently books is that you should know the procedure well and use the book as a templet for clarification.
