Do Angels exist? I don't know. Do people touch our lives? Yes, they do. For me 'Angels' have often come in human form at just the right time. This new anthology by Bridge House Publishing explores the idea of 'Angels' in many forms.
Voices of Angels features 17 short stories from both new and established writers, including the wonderful Laura Wilkinson whose book, BloodMining was the winner of the Bridge House Debut Novel Competition 2010. The forward is written by Gloria Hunniford, in it she explains that her daughter Caron Keating, who passed away from cancer in 2004, was a big believer in Angels.
Some of the stories are funny, some are sad, some are symbolic and all of them offer you the opportunity to think about how you live your life now. I was doing quite well on the emotional front until I read Afterglow by Maria Herring, that touched my soul. It was the sheer generosity of spirit in the final paragraphs that moved me to tears.
Whether you believe in Angels or not, it's worth letting your imagination take flight with each author's unique interpretation of the theme in this anthology.
£1 from the sale of each copy of Voices of Angels, plus a percentage of author royalties, will be donated to The Caron Keating Foundation.

I was quite surprised by how good this little book is. Maybe it just appealed to my reading tastes, but these short stories are very good. I'm not normally into 'feel good' books so I didn't think I would like this, but these stories aren't at all mawkish. They're humorous, true to life and emotional, but in an uplifting way. I've got one still left to read on my Kindle and I'm looking forward to finishing it tonight. Certainly one I'm keeping on my reader!
