A Great Smartphone at an Affordable Price

The first thing you'll notice about the Vodafone Smart 4 Mini is its fresh, robust design. It comes in a range of colours and finishes, so you can choose a look that suits you. As you explore the range of pre-installed Vodafone and Google apps you'll be surprised how easy and comfortable it is to use. The large 4-inch screen makes navigating and organising everything easy, and the fast processor means there's no compromise on performance.

Customise the Homescreen to Suit You

Get instant access to your favourite apps and content on the Vodafone Smart 4 Mini. It comes with a customisable homescreen where you can drag and drop the icons and arrange them to suit you. Then update your status on Facebook, get directions from Google Maps or search for more games and apps in Google Play--all with a single tap, direct from your homescreen.

Navigate, Search and Connect with Google

Get directions and discover nearby restaurants, bars and other cool places with 3D maps. Enhanced GPS means your phone knows instantly where you are. Get info on the fly with voice recognition - no typing required. Ask Google and get ranked search results. And stay in touch with a range of pre-installed apps including mail and messenger, and a simple link to thousands more on Google Play, where you can also browse and download the latest movies, games and music. All this on the world's most popular operating system.

Why Vodafone?

Our outstanding network gives you excellent UK coverage for calls, texts and mobile broadband--indoors and out. We build our network so that signals from our masts overlap each other. It means you get fewer dropped calls and better mobile broadband. We focus on giving you a strong signal indoors and outside--unlike some operators who concentrate on spreading their signal over the widest area. We’re the network of choice for many of the UK’s emergency services. Ambulance, police and fire services know they can rely on us. We make sure you get the fastest service possible--even at the busiest times of the day--thanks to the extra capacity we build into our network.

I've never used a mobile phone enough to justify a monthly contract but given the number of free Wi-Fi hotspots now available when out and about, I wanted a cheap PAYG smartphone that could get me online and also double as an MP3 player. I searched around and was surprised at the specifications of this for the price - 1.3 GHz Dual core processor, Android 4.2.2 (Jellybean) and its capacity can be extended with a MicroSD card. It really is a bargain.

It uses a standard SIM card (not a micro) and it comes with one in the box (I fitted my existing 10 year old Vodafone SIM). As a phone it works fine and is straightforward to use. I also inserted a 128GB MicroSD card and despite the literature stating that only external storage up to 32GB is accepted, it works to it's FULL capacity.

It's very FAST, launching and switching effortlessly between apps - you can have a lot going on but it copes with ease. It only has a 4GB internal capacity but you can transfer some apps to a MicroSD card and run them from there. I don't know what the criteria is, but some can be moved to a MicroSD card (BBC iPlayer, BBC iPlayer Radio, Amazon Music, Netflix, Skype, etc) and some can't (4oD, Spotify, Facebook, Amazon Instant Video, ITV Player, etc). If you transfer the BBC iPlayer app to a MicroSD card, any programmes downloaded are saved within the app on the MicroSD card.

Wi-Fi and Bluetooth function as they should. If you need to use the GPS, install the Nokia Here Maps app and their UK map (they're both free) - it works perfectly without having to be connected to the Internet. It's been 100% accurate every time I've used it.

As an MP3 player it sounds fine but the volume does not go as loud as other players I've used. It has an FM radio too and the reception is perfect.

I'm surprised at the low rating for this. I have bought a lot of budget (ie < £100) Android phones over the years to use as second phones when I travel. In general they are slow, with low res screens and miserable features. But they are cheap! So when they inevitably get lost or smashed or stolen, it doesn't really matter.

I found this one in the Vodafone store itself and when I looked it up I was astonished at the specs for the price. Fifty quid for a dual core processor, good size and relatively high res screen. Seemed too good to be true really. I gave it a punt and I haven't been disappointed - it runs android really smoothly, has a solid battery life, great screen and does everything a phone of nearly twice the price can do. GPS, wifi, all work brilliantly. Camera isn't anything to write home about but few are at this price. Also you can unlock it online for £1 if you look around, which makes it a bargain on any network.

The only real niggle I have with this phone is the sensitivity of the touchscreen. Typing on this is a lot more error prone than on the similar sized Samsung S3 mini for example, or the Xperia Ray I had before. It's better though than the totally wretched Sony Xperia E that I had that lasted a month. It just means that writing messages and emails takes a lot more care than I'd like.

Anyway, I'd recommend it if you are looking for a decent smartphone at a total bargain price - it blows all the others at a similar price point away. If you had £60 more quid to spend of course the Moto G is far better, but if not I don't think you can go wrong with this.

This is a great phone, for the price of 40 pounds you can't go wrong. compared to my S3 mini it has better resolution and much faster, keeping in mind that I paid £200 for the S3 mini. It can be unlocked for as little as £1.00.

Purchased this at my local Argos but wanted to post a review for others to see, phone is great for the price the camera is nothing amazing and comes with no flash but that doesn't bother me too much the battery life is acceptable of course if you are not running loads of things but there is an app to help out with the battery life, highly recommend this phone to anyway on a budget looking for a good android phone.

After my wife's iPhone 5 died, I spent some time looking for a suitable replacement and came across this phone. The catch was the great spec and price but also the fact that it looks very much like an iPhone. It arrived today and I was very impressed at both the quality and ease of set-up and use. It is a great phone for the price and looks far more expensive than its £35 price tag.

I've waited a few days before posting this as I wanted to see how it worked. I bought this to replace a very nice Sony Xperia which completely died very unexpectedly after 5 months and Vodafone refused to honour the warranty... thanks a lot Vodafone. Anyway, this phone has it's problems. it is temperamental; sometimes apps crash, sometimes the phone gets confused about opening and closing apps... best thing to do it shut it down and re-open. The roaming data is awful, I haven't made it connect properly once (so am saving money from those Vodafone gits). The camera is ok but not great, even instagram pics are looking a little wishy washy. But when attached to wi-fi it's not bad and it is very easy to use. I've been very honest about the short comings... but for £30? It's really not that bad, I've had worse smart phones that cost more than twice as much. This will see me through to the end of my contract with those thieving gits form vodafone. I hope.
