My Favorite Pair of Vivo's (so far) 10 Mar 2014
By JCS - Published on
The Neo Trails were my second foray into Vivobarefoots (first was Evo Lites and Dharma's have been since). I did not order these shoes from Amazon. A few observations:

1. I wear an 11 (US) and ordered a 45 (EU). The shoes fit as expected with a good bit of room in the toe box.
2. I wear these shoes with the insole.
UPDATE: I wore the shoes without socks and without the insole for a recent race. I have no issues with blisters or rubbing.
3. I have mainly worn these shoes for casual wear, but I have used them in some light snowy weather. The sole's grip is excellent.
4. The shoes have kept my feet warm in cool, cold and snowy conditions.
5. Some complain about the knobby sole being uncomfortable, but I have no issue with the soles comfort.
6. The ground feel is less than most other Vivo's due to the rugged sole.
7. As with most Vivo's, these shoes are overpriced. I purchased these shoes at a great discount and as a result, I am completely satisfied with the purchase.
8. To date, I have not worn these shoes on any sort of trail run or rugged outdoor activity.
UPDATE: I have worn these shoes for several trail runs and a race. The lugs were great for keeping my footing.
9. The shoes are waterproof, which was great in the wintery conditions. The drawback is that the shoes will likely retain water when I wear them for any trail activity that includes deeper water (like an upcoming mud-race).
UPDATE: I wore these shoes for a recent Savage Race. The conditions were mostly muddy (5-7 miles) and the lugs were awesome. I rarely slipped in the mud, which was an unusual feat for most. While the shoes did retain water, I didn't really notice it.
10. Personally, I think these shoes look good. I like the style. I would've preferred the solid blacks, but I am happy with the black/grey/yellow style.

All in all, I am happy with these shoes. I have enjoyed the various Vivobarefoot products that I have purchased. I will continue to support their products, but I will always do so via a great sale (and never at full price).

barefoot trail shoe and so much more 3 Dec 2013

I love these shoes. They are amazing. Super light, amazing tread, incredible trail feel (with the insoles removed) snug comfortable uppers. I bought these for running but ended up using them for softball (the tread is stiff and long enough to approximate cleats) and even went backpacking in them (this I would not recommend unless you are extremely careful with your ankles.) Very durable. removing the insoles adds to trail feedback but also adds 1/4 to 1/2 a shoe size to length.

Big roomy toe box. Top notch materials and construction. I also really love the look of these shoes, which is totally subjective, but there it is. These feel and look great. They also have a really chunky tread, it reminds me of a mud or sand tire for a dune buggy. These will be the last shoes turning into slicks in the muck. Recommended.

Great shoe 23 Aug 2013

This shoe is unlike any other shoe I have experienced. This is my second pair and what I like best is the type of support or non- support it provides. I walk and work all day without any foot arch discomfort I used to experience with almost all shoes I used for work in the past. It is a very wide shoe and quite comfortable for biking, light hiking in the mountains and running.
Keep up the good product!

I first class addition to Vivobarefoot's exceptional line of shoes. 2 Aug 2013

I own and wear only barefoot type of shoes and have several different styles and brands. My everyday favorite shoe is the Vivobarefoot Ultra Pure shoe which I wear as a distance walking/running shoe on streets and on even surfaces. Recently I have started running on trails and rocky uneven surfaces and the Ultra's were a little thin-skinned for me. So, I bought and ran trails and gravel strewn roads with the Neo Trail.

They gave me the precise amount of extra protection without sacrificing the foot's sensitivity to the ground.

The shoe is extremely well designed and made and well worth the list price, but can be purchased (certain color schemes) at nicely discounted price from Amazon.
