Having seen the two good reviews, I had high hopes for this - and I've recently bought a Vivitar still camera that is fab. This item, however, is a pile of crap. It feels like a cheap plastic toy, and the awful touch screen seems to work some of the time - if your fingers are small enough. Worst of all, it just does not seem to focus on anything at all. I've had it inside and out, close up and at distance, and everything just looks awful and blurry. I gave this to my 12 year old daughter yesterday for her birthday, and she was totally underwhelmed. She's previously been using my Aldi £55 video Camera (note this Vivitar was originally retailed at £59.99 - so I think the comparison is valid) to make small movies for Youtube. The cameras are chalk and cheese, and she's now holding my Aldi camera as hostage until I get her something else. The DVR558 would almost be fit for purpose if it was given to a 6 year old and cost less than a tenner. DO NOT BUY.
