Staggeringly beautiful conception, portraying stunningly radiant rockabilly/punk/gothique women captured with one eye trained on compostion, another on the radiating dazzle of beauty whilst a third eye focuses on lighting effect. This book criss crosses genres gliding between art, titilation and something else. This is far in advance of the cameo's in men's mags such as Back Street Heroes and the glut of Rod inkies.

These don't come off in your hands and secondly having a woman in charge of lens patrol gives this a different take.

Another aspect of feminimity exudes from these pages. Not exactly art but a great deal more than just trash and candyfloss gyrating across a machine. This is similar in noir to Motel fetish, it shares the same blood line. The woman in Viva's pin ups are more alive than ghost beaten and exude the scent of allure rather than the sense of intrigue or fatigue. Not a critique just an observation. Whilst Motel Fetish deals with a hard boiled noir, Vivas pinups strum the heartstrings to tease and enticement. Although some of the images replicate the aura of the motel. The photos have a texture and jump out of the page into your lap if you close your eyes hard enough!

This tasteful collection persuaded to pose, preen tease and emanate new dimensions of beauty in an array of sexualtease humour drawing from Gil Elvegren's bedroom then tiptoing all the way to the hidden closet of Irving Klaw before striding defiantly forward with dazzling fetish searing titilation to see Eric Stanton. These are women in control rather than wanting to be wannabe film stars in lad mag world.

These set the bar for all forms of 50's fetish photography and its no wonder Tyson McAdoo introduces the book.

Format: Hardcover
"Viva's Pinups" contains the very best of pinup photography from the most innovative photographer around, whose work is both a continuation and reinvention of the classic pinup tradition. Sure, there are the enduring retro references: The attention to period detail, the rich colouring, and the atmospheric lighting that evoke moods that extend beyond the photographed moment. But there's something more; an edge and tension that distances the images from being merely exercises in nostalgia and gives them an eroticism that is wholly contemporary, challenging, and liberating at the same time. And no one could mistake models like Mosh or Angela Ryan for being anything other than the strong, modern women they are. These are photographs that remind us that Life has the capacity to excite and expand beyond its normal bounds, and can be taken wherever we want it to go! So, if you're up for the trip, this book can't be recommended enough. And look out for the follow up collection this Spring, entitled "Sheer", which promises further explorations in erotic possibility by this groundbreaking photographer.

Format: Hardcover
Viva Van Story is arguably the best modern pin up photographer out there today, and this book is a stunning collection of her work. Featuring top alt models like Mosh, Angela Ryan and more, it both harks bath to the vintage era of the pin up and creeps into the more conceptual and eery side of things too. It is gorgeous quality, and a great addition to your coffee table.
Cannot wait for her second book!
