This is an economical package to explore Vivaldi beyond the Four Seasons. That disc is also included but was released earlier. There are no wind concertos here.
The Sonatas disc is so called Dresden sonatas. RV 34 is familiar, and must be known also as a concerto. These are not the Opus 1 or Opus 2 sonatas. The entire set on 4 discs is available for a download, but in the download they squeeze it all into two 80 minute discs. I recommend the RV 5 Sonata if you just want to sample one. Brings to my mind the fireworks in the Four Seasons, but here with three instruments! See the link at the bottom for the sonatas separately.
The Concerto discs offer variety. The most famous one is probably RV 531 for two cellos.
Biondi is doing fine on violin and conducting. The three discs may take some listening, as they are not Vivaldi for beginners, but the order keeps variety in the performance.
All discs are with a jewel case and you can discard the outer box they come in.
There is a good deal on a download of all these, 14 dollars or so. Poke around Amazon with the search words Vivaldi soanta and biondi and you should find it. These reviews are difficult to write with all the links.
