Product Description

This is the final in the three series of "Viv" books. Unsolved murders are solved in this final chapter to the two previous books. More murders, slashings, stabbings, arson attacks, corruption and drugs.

From the Author

My writing style has been both praised and attacked, but I stand by my puritanical writing style, which if it was featured in the USA would be praised. I have sought out the best there is from the criminal underworld for this book and it has not been without trying to please everybody that I've burned some night oil in adjusting many of the chapters to keep everyone happy. The main fear of those in the criminal underworld is being branded an informant and this is well covered in the book and an interview with Dave Courtney has burst the bubble on the 'Fake Informant' scam used by some police officers. Because of the respect the underworld has for me I have secured some very candid interviews from the toughest men in the north. Some of the stories they've told me are not all about violence, some are very funny stories and some are sad. I could have filled 500 pages but my remit was to fill up to 300 pages, so I was left frustrated at having to cut back on some of the items I'd planned to include. Having gained an insight into what makes gangsters tick made it easier for me to determine how to put things across. This is the last in the Viv series of books and it is, in my opinion, the best to date. The positive feedback I've had from the other two Viv books has given me the encouragement to finalise this book. What was thought to be a small print run from the first Viv book has mushroomed into three books selling multi thousands of copies worldwide, the first Viv book outselling Catherine Cookson's books on Tyneside in the Christmas of 1998. The next project is to get the big screen movie off the ground which will be about two of the characters from the books - Viv Graham and Lee Duffy. We have the actor lined up to play Lee Duffy and he is Andrew Hutt from Teesside, the role for Viv is yet to be filled. Viv Graham is featured throughout the book and stories are told about him from all quarters, but I've been honest enough to include some stories that are critical of Viv so I hope to have pleased the pro and anti Viv following.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another gem full of revelations, 3 Dec 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Viv (Graham): Final Chapter v. 3 (Paperback)
Here's another northern crime book given the cold shoulder by the southern press in favour of southern books and southern loyalties. This book, in my opinion, more than matches up to what's on offer in the true crime area of books. I mean Dave Courtney spills the beans on informants being used by the police and what a chapter that was and yet its full of northern gangsters. How many books combine the north/south world of gangsters, none! This book has filled that gap. I've not seen a single thing in the press about this startling piece of work. I think we need a change of ideas to turn peoples attitudes around to what's good and what's rubbish when it comes to these books and this book makes top marks for its daring attitude in confronting taboo subjects like bent coppers and the likes of. All what I can say in a nutshell is that this book is a gem of a read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of both worlds, 12 Oct 2001

This review is from: Viv (Graham) (Paperback)
Having read this book I feel compelled to post a review to show my appreciation of a good book. A friend passed it on to me at work. I thought it was just another one of those kiss and lie crime books, but how wrong I was. Not only has the book got a story to tell of a man's demise because of his underworld connections but it for once gives some stats and figures to work on that gives an overall picture of crime. The book leads you by the hand whereas most, if not all, other crime books treat you as if you were one of the boys and already had an insight into the machinations and workings of a crime ring. This book covers every aspect of the subject matters life and from every angle.

5.0 out of 5 stars Learn from this book, 6 Nov 2001

Brilliant investigative journalism. The BBC could learn a thing or two from this book. OK the grammar leaves a little to be desired but after reading up on the author I can accept these little foibles of his claimed writing style and after a while it grows on you. You're drawn into a special world where you and the writer are on a one to one, he's telling it to you the reader. Anyone wishing to visit the world of gangsters wouldn't go far wrong in reading this book. One criticism though and that was there wasn't a lot of photos in this book although compared to the book The Ferris Conspiracy (Paul Ferris) it had a lot more in it.
