5.0 out of 5 stars Fusion Phenomenon 27 Mar 2013
Format:MP3 Download|Verified Purchase
What is "Post rock"???? Jazz mags seem to think this is something describing fontanelle, Tortoise and others. But listen to King Crimson, old Flloyd, etc and there is an evolution from there into experimental jazz. This IS highly entrancing, involving, complex, beat driven music. It will lift you up. not chill you out. It suits so many moods its like being on cloud 8. Go but it jam rock, noodle rock and fusion jazz fans it is SO b***y GREAT!

Take a bunch of doom sludge enthusiasts and get them to record a slab of heavy funk circa Miles Davis On the Corner meets Agartha!!!! Whats not to like? A revelation.

4.0 out of 5 stars An anomaly in the Southern Lord Catalogue.... 3 Feb 2013
By The Record Seller - Published on Amazon.com
...thought that's hardly a bad thing. The Southern Lord label is known for signing brutal, filthy, metal and punk bands that your parents love listening to, but Fontanelle is a whole different entity altogether. Vitamin F, the groups first album in 10 years, is a full-fledged jazz/funk odessey (with collabs from Sunn and Dylan Carson!!!!) through and through. This may surprise and disappoint loyalists to the label, but those with open minds will find grooves and beats that wouldn't be out of place on a Miles Davis album. Anyone who has a jazz record in their collection or a passing interest in jazz/funk would do well to try this out.
