Product Description
From checkout girl to medical student...Mother of three Rhoda Bradley (Tamzin Outhwaite) is stuck in a dead end job as a supermarket check-out assistant and is desperate to do something worthwhile with her life before it is too late. When her daughter Lexie is taken to hospital with appendicitis, the hospital visit inspires Rhoda to dramatically change her life and train to become a doctor. However, although the medical school are supportive, her family are not so sure and Rhoda soon discovers that even with enthusiasm and determination, wanting to be a doctor and being accepted to train as a doctor by your friends and family are two very different things.

This program was shown two years ago on my local TVO channel (The broadcaster owned by the province of Ontario in Canada) and run again recently.
I was disappointed that only one 6 episode series was produced. Tamzin Outhwaite and the rest of the cast fit well together. The story of an ordinary grocery store clerk with a family struggling to become a doctor was interesting. The producers could have emulated the format of other shows by filming a series of 90 to 100 minute movies and spread out their airings instead of going so fast with the story.
Hopefully someone will recast a show with a similar story line in the future.

Great performance from Tamzin Outhwaite. Portrays well the struggle of a working mother & being a mature student in college wanting to become a doctor.

saw one episode of vital signs on continental TV and was fascinated by the performance of tamzin outhwaite so i wanted to see more i had to serch a while before i found what i wanted and that was by amazon and i was glad of that because i see there are more DVD with tamzin outhwaite that i can buy and with the excellent delivery service what more can i ask.
