This weaning starter set is great value for money, and for those who plan to wean traditionally (with purees), it contains most of what you will need to get started. Overall, the price we paid was far less than if we bought each item individually. The pieces included are useful but many also have small annoying flaws such as lids that don't close properly.
Vital Baby First Tumbler: Best feature is that it can be used as either a free flow or no-spill cup - your choice. You simply remove a valve inside the cup if you want to use it free flow. My baby hasn't worked out how to drink by herself using this cup, and tends to choke on the water a lot more than her other Tomee Tippee sippy cup, and so we don't use this cup very often. The other disadvantage is that the protective lid doesn't fit very well, therefore leakages are likely when left in free flow mode when out and about. This is definitely a stay-at-home cup.
Vital Baby Soft Tip Weaning Spoons: Excellent spoons which fit perfectly in a small baby's mouth. I've tried a few other brands of spoons and these are my favourite. They will stain, however, when feeding brightly coloured foods such as carrots.
Vital Baby Press 'n' Pop Mini Freezer Pots: A good size for freezing small portions of baby food. The soft base helps to release the contents when frozen, but I still find it very hard to empty the pots without letting them defrost first which isn't great if you want to dump the contents into a plastic baggie and re-use them immediately - and my husband has the same problem. They are stackable, but too bitty to use as the main freezing method as they will occasionally topple over. I recommend using this occasionally and getting an ice cube tray for batch cooking.
Vital Baby Food Pots: A good pot for mixing purees and feeding them to your baby. They are a reasonable size - not too small, so you can actually fit several ice cubes of food in it, but not needlessly large. If taking these out and about with you, you really need to make sure you've snapped the lid on good, as they are prone to leak. I also always carry them in a plastic bag to be safe.
Vital Baby Weaning Set: We've not really used this bowl as it is really intended for babies self-feeding larger portion sizes and our baby isn't quite 7 months old yet. It has a lid with a convenient holder for a spoon. To be honest, I'm not sure how useful it will be as I imagine it will be used more often as a frisbee rather than a bowl by our baby once we start using it.
Overall, I am happy with the purchase, given the price we paid.
