It contains contributions from anthropologists, from cultural, literary, and film critics, and from imagemakers themselves. Reclaiming visual anthropology as a space for the critical representation of visual culture from the naive realist and exoticist inclinations that have beleaguered practitioners' efforts to date, Visualizing Theory is a major intervention into this growing field. Using images as a material and methods originate in ethnographical studies. At the same vein, presenting your research in pictures, in a cinema, or at least argue with the help of pictorial sequence has become a commonplace in historical studies and, naturally, in art studies. This collection gives you in concise form all the seminal articles that created the stance we are able to lean on today when we use visual presentation and representation in research literature. No definitive text is missing.
