This is an introduction to Bucks Point lace, designed both as an instruction book for the beginner and as a reference tool for the more experienced lacemaker. The book contains 40 patterns, arranged in order of difficulty, each presenting a few new techniques and, for those who may not be familiar with the diagrammatic approach, there are simple written instructions explaining each new step. The most common techniques are set out in box form for easy reference and throughout, there are practical hints gathered over the author's many years of experience as a lacemaker and teacher. Each pattern has an actual-size pricking and a photograph of the finished lace. The early practice strips are worked to a large scale to help familiarize the new lacemaker with thin threads and pins; these are interspersed with actual lace articles, which will be decorative and useful, as well as serving as samplers. After working through this book, the beginner should be able to move on to its companion, "100 Traditional Bobbin Lace Patterns", of which Geraldine Stott is also the author.

Simple straight forward prickings,from very basic edgings to advanced intricate designs.Takes you step by step clearly and concisely through the designs.If you have been putting off starting Bucks Point because you thought it was complicated this is the book you must have!

I brought this book many years ago when it was first published, and Geraldine kindly signed it for me, saying 'To Lynn Best Bishes, love Geraldine'. You may or maynot know that Geraldine is dyslexic so for her to not only make this stunning lace, but to write this and many other books is quite amazing, I will treasure it always.
So when my friend Pam started to learn lace making this was the book to buy for her. The detailed instructions and the well laid out patterns make it very easy to use. I was always one to follow the diagrammes so found it very easy to follow, buy my lace making friend Meryl used to read the instructions, either way, it is an excellent book to use. Bucks Point is such an easy lace to learn to do, and trust me this book will show you every step of the way.

This book has plenty of nice patterns but it is recommended for lacemakers who are familiar with the basic stitches. The colour code system makes it easy to understand, at a glance.
