When I first came across this book as a second year Art History student, I must admit, I was daunted. The essays are complex and sometimes difficult to fathom. However, with dogged determination, the various theories in relation to looking at different perspectives on art become clearer. The arguments are followed by useful insights by the various editors, which can help to clarify further. If you want to delve deeper into the likes of Perceptualism or Representationalism, then this is the book you need! My suggestion for all Art History students is, get to grips with this book, it will certainly become a good starting point for your studies.
