This is the cheapest way to get VB.NET standard! AND you get VB.NET Step by Step book with it.
I had no problems like the ones mentioned below and would heartily recommend this for anyone wanting to start in .NET. Buy it you know you want to.

I purchased this book because I wanted a quick and easy way of getting an introduction to the new VB.NET IDE.
The book works through the language and development environment step by step. The student is given a very good grounding of the IDE, basic language constructs and data access tools.
For the more experienced programmer there are upgrade notes at the beginning of each chapter for those who want to skip parts that appear to basic.
In summary the package of software and training book is very good value.

Used this to self teach myself VB.Net, in less than 3 months I have gone from knowing pratically nothing to creating a full VB.Net application which looks remarkably professional.
If you want to learn VB.Net and get a full copy of Visual Studio.Net (VB.Net only) then this is a must.
Well done Microsoft Press.
