Review

" . . . the most fascinating book to come my way this year." (Robert Matthews, The Sunday Telegraph )

Product Description

This book examines how Western behavioral science--which has generally focused on negative aspects of human nature--holds up to cross-cultural scrutiny, in particular the Tibetan Buddhist celebration of the human potential for altruism, empathy, and compassion. Resulting from a meeting between the Dalai Lama, leading Western scholars, and a group of Tibetan monks, this volume includes excerpts from these extraordinary dialogues as well as engaging essays exploring points of difference and overlap between the two perspectives.

Kindle edition faulty 11 Oct 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
My rating is for the Kindle edition only. This seems like an excellent book but the Kindle edition is unacceptable because the first page of every chapter is not formatted properly, making it impossible to read on the Kindle. It is as if the opening page of each chapter is merely a scanned image of the page in the printed book so there is far too much white space around the text which is reduced to an illegibly small font size which is not resizable. This is a shame because it is much more convenient for me to do my reading on the Kindle.

Terrific book. Get it if you are interested in Buddhism or are just simply interested in the subject. Different ways of seeing the world was very eye opening and refreshing for me. I had to read it for a class but I truly enjoyed this book.
