How Not To Activate the Imaginal Cells 24 Jan. 2012
By Hear me now - Published on
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
If your looking for a technique to activate your Imaginal cells don't use this book as your resource. There is NO technique what-so-ever to be found except for the ever elusive Shamanic Breathwork mentioned in every chapter but never taught. You can however, contact a healing center owned by the author to sign up for a class to learn 'Shamanic Breathwork'. Right at start of the Preface of the book it describes the Shamanic Breathwork process and how it 'accelerates the transformation of consciousness by raising one's awareness of the time line of the past, present, and future realities' but it never solidly shows up as a teaching. I was lead to believe that the breathwork was a way to tap into the imaginal cells but was confused why the imaginal cells were rarely mentioned past the Preface? Given the heavy dose of Egyptian archetypes within the book, my guess is that maybe the author was saying that archetypes and imaginal cells are synonymous? I don't know, it lacked clarity. I became bored with the personal stories which are good if they are stated to make a point but, her life stories were the ENTIRE book. Between the Egyptian archetypes and the stories it felt like I was reading the biography of Isis;not how to activate Imaginal cells. I give this book 1 star because it didn't follow through with it's intent and it left me physically irritated and emotionally disappointed.

Where's my activation? 30 Sept. 2012
By Hecka'sHound - Published on
Format: Paperback
This book was a bit of a disappointment. I was expecting some information on the activation of those imaginal cells mentioned on the cover. There was a lot of anecdotal stuff that seemed more personal than appropriate, the recounting of experiences that while possibly profound for the author, I really didn't need to know about. Sometimes I got the feeling that I was supposed to be impressed or awed by the author's personal journey. I wasn't. There's some mention of interesting things, like accessing information from the future and imaginal cells, but not a whole lot of ink is expended on these topics. The promise of these was for me a main selling point so that was a let-down. Overall, while there's nothing really wrong here, it isn't what one might think it would be. I kept wondering, when do we get to the good stuff? This reads more like a journal with footnotes. At times this book also has a bit of a preachy style that seemed a bit condescending.

Halfway through the book I started hoping the cd would be the saving grace. Be warned, if you are expecting relaxing, meditation music, binaural nature sounds or a guided-visualization, this isn't it. It starts out nicely enough but about a minute into the cd it changes into very non-journey conducive music. Again, there's nothing really wrong with this per se. Musically you may even like it. Who knows? it just isn't what I think of when I see "visionary shamanism musical journeys" on the cover. (Awesome cover btw.) In all fairness it should be said, this author probably does have a lot of good information and perspectives to impart but just doesn't do that great a job of it here. So, if you like the biographical genre with some metaphysics, philosophizing and world mythology thrown in the mix, this may be just the book for you.

Is it possible to rate this less than one star? 24 Oct. 2013
By QueenofSpadez - Published on
Format: Paperback
There is not a single technique listed within these pages to assist in activating your 'imaginal cells'. In fact, this book seems to be nothing more than examples(How many times can you say the same thing, but in a different way???), authors experiences, and comparisons. This seems more like a shameless plug, "To learn this, please refer to my 501c3 non-profit organization." And definitely seems to be a ego fluff for the author. "Certain people, like me, appear to be born with an extra dose of natural shamanic talents, such as the ability to travel between words the way I frequently do."

In short, this book is useless, and leaves you more frustrated and perhaps even confused as before you started out. Don't waste your time or money.

Linda Star Wolf's VISIONARY SHAMANISM Reminds You Of The Power Within Yourself 11 Jan. 2012
By Cyrus Webb - Published on
Format: Paperback
Every now and then we need a reminder of the power that lies inside of us all. This power helps us as we are going through different situations in life as well as how we cope with the challenges that we are faced with. In VISIONARY SHAMNISM by Linda Star Wolf and Anne Dillon we are helped to see how we have the keys to happiness right in our midst. All we have to do is activate them.

This is not a book that you will read and maybe agree or even understand everything. I know I didn't. But it is a book that will allow you to see how the experiences of Linda and others are part a great road map to help us along our own journey and to fulfill our own destiny. I am a person who has become more aware of the energy I bring forward and the type of energy that I welcome around me. This is a large part of what Linda speaks about in the book: knowing what you want, going for it and discarding the rest.

Linda writes this: "When we bring in the discerning power of the human heart, we really begin to realize that we create our reality and that our fate is in our own hands, because the heart further refunds what is presented to us through our answered prayers." (page 62) This should help us to see that regardless of where you are spiritually, you are in a position to welcome the kind of life you want into being. It begins with a decision and then comes the surrender. Surrendering to all that is and welcome that which we want.

I loved this book not just because of the empowerment that it offers, but because I can see already how by applying its basic message can have results that we might not have seen or thought to be possible. Give it try, and you will see that VISIONARY SHAMANISM reminds you of the pwoer without yourself. It's time to unlock it.

From The Future, To The Future 23 Dec. 2011
By Bonnie Cehovet - Published on
Format: Paperback
Linda Star Wolf first came across my path through her work with Nicki Scully (Anubis Oracle, Shamanic Mysteries of Egypt). She is the creator of the Shamanic Breathwork process, and co-author of the "Anubis Oracle" and "Shamanic Mysteries of Egypt" with Nicki Scully. She is a spiritual granddaughter of Seneca Wolf Clan Grandmother Twyla Nitsch, and a visionary in her own right.

In "Visionary Shamanism" we are gifted with a valuable tool - that of accessing our imaginal cells, energy that contains an imprint of both our past and our future. by accessing this energy we allow ourselves to see a spiritual hologram of who we are capable of being, at our best. By seeing into our future, we become our future, and we reach our evolutionary potential in this lifetime.

Through the use of personal stories and anecdotes, we see the shamanic world "up close and personal". We prepare ourselves to reach our full potential, and in doing so we impact the world around us to become a better place. We are preparing ourselves for the new world to come.

"Visionary Shamanism" is written in a tone and language that makes it easy to follow, and easy to understand. You do not need to know anything about shamanism to make best use of this material. And there is a bonus - the CD "Musical Journeys" (Matt Venuti) is included with the book. This CD takes the listener on a journey through the chakras - and excellent accompaniment to the material contained within the book.

This book and CD are wonderful tools of empowerment, and can be used by individuals from all cultural and religious backgrounds, and all levels of shamanic experience.
