HE WAS KING

“This is my electronic pop record,” preens Felix Da Housecat, midway through a world tour to promote his latest album He Was King. “Whereas Kittenz & The Glitz was straight up electro, He Was King is straight Felix Da Housecat pop with a nice electronic feel.” Packed with club smashes like ‘KickDrum’ and future synth-pop classics such ... If you like Kittenz and thee glitz, then you'll love Virgo Blaktro and the Movie Disco. Short songs that are packed with emotion, thought, effort and love.

He claims that there are no bad songs on it and every song is a winner. At first I didn't agree but after giving it more listens I'm starting to swing to his way of thinking. It really does grow on you.

The single 'Something 4 porno' is pretty cool and really shows how far Felix has progressed. But for me the best track is 'Future Calls Thee Dawn'. This track really sums up Felix playing live. His live sets are often quite different to his albums...but this track really takes the cake. It sums up everything about seeing him live.

If yer new to Felix, then this wouldn't be a bad place to start. Funk, electro, dance, thumping stuff that's not repetitive unlike some other dance music out there.

Highly recommended.

Never afraid to be different, once again Felix stands out from the crowd with another superbly 'different from the rest' album.
Most tracks are only 3 minutes long, meaning the album moves along at a swift speed. The tracks manage to be different but sound together, apart from maybe Tweak (my favourite along with the brilliant Future Calls The Dawn). Tweak is built for the dancefloor, and as far as i know, Felix released this track over a year ago, so it's inclusion is a surprise. But it's not a bad point, far from it.
Other personal favs include Movie Disco, Like Something 4 Porno, Radio & Monkey Cage.
This won't disappoint the loyal Felix fan base, and will hopefully attract new fans too.

'Future calls the dawn' it's probs one of my fave songs of this year!! Very good album would recomend to any felix fans out there! Bit different to their usual stuff but still fun and you can still tell it's got their twist of wierd electro!! 'Something for Porno' sounds alot different to their normal genre as it's quite pop but still a good tune. All the songs are great apart from 'Radio' which i found abit annoying!! But still GO AND GET IT!!!! X

A good entry in the canon 1 July 2008
By CMad - Published on Amazon.com

Felix is always creative and looking for new ways to put a twist on things. He likes these concept albums where he is telling a story from a character's point of view and this one is no different. I like Devin Dazzle better, but this is a good album as well. A few songs lag in my opinion, but I'd say 70% of the tracks hit really nicely good beats, imaginative vocals and themes. Plus "Like Something 4 Porno" is just a freaking good time as a song
Don't sleep on this-- Fantastic!! 10 Aug. 2009
By jennifersavant - Published on Amazon.com

A lot of people seemed to sleep on this album, but I think it's amazing. It's real funky & cool, and I like the vocals a lot. It's electronica but it's much more deep and soulful than a lot of stuff you hear. It's got a few different flavors on it but there's a thread that runs through it with a real laid-back vibe that I like to groove to. A+++!!
Listen to it again 12 Dec. 2008
By C. Ericson - Published on Amazon.com

When I first heard this album, I was thinking...um, no. But I listened to it a few times more (being a fan) and discovered its greatness. Now, not every track is great, but those that are make up for the others. I found it has a really great retro-80's sound that I hear others trying to produce, but didn't hit the mark like this one did.

NOT THE CORRECT TRACKLISTING 19 Jan. 2009
By Martin Nau - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This record is great, but the tracklisting on here is not for Virgo Blaktro. It's for some Xbox game from 2005 called "Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath." Ridiculous.
