Another excellent book by Wood, following the tradition of Domina and Green City in the sun A book that stays with you for ever and that you open its pages again and again to re-read your favourite part...memorable read..

I read this book as a Book Club read It is a family saga set mainly in Egypt within the home of a muslim family over several generations. The book is clearly written by a westerner whose attitude to muslim beliefs and life is generally negative. The characters tend to be steryotypes not fully developed, the book is overlong, repetative with regard to details of muslim life and left this reader unsatisfied. Formulaic writing barely one up from Catherine Cookson.

I read this book a few years ago and still tell friends to read it. I got lost in the characters, the story, the setting. It was just a terrific read!
