4.0 out of 5 stars A very silly film 15 April 2010
Format:DVD
If you're looking for something high brow then this is certainly not for you. It's not even a period drama in the sense that the term is normally used. I would say that it was a mixture between films such as The Princess Bride or A Knights Tale and something like American Pie. At one point someone pole dances around a tent pole. It all seems slightly anachronistic at first, but since some of the bawdy storyline seems to be taken from Boccaccio's 14th century The Decameron, it's probably more in keeping with the fiction of the period than it seems.

If you want to watch something light hearted and don't mind a bit of smut then this may be the film for you. It certainly kept me amused on a wet afternoon. I'm amazed the film found any backers but I'm glad it did. It's a film with no pretensions - shame the dvd cover doesn't make it clearer to people that it's just a very silly film.

3.0 out of 5 stars The art of trailer making 16 Feb 2010
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
It seems this film only attracts the worst and the best of reviews. True, the trailer suggests it is far funnier that it really is. True, what plot there is is stretched to breaking point over the duration of the film. However, there are some truely beautiful women who (all to briefly) disrobe in titillating innocence; there is a moderate dose of swashbuckling (not enough); there is some very pleasant scenery (apart from the ladies, that is).
Although you will end up asking yourself why the film was ever made, it is pleasant enough to fill a rainy afternoon in February.
This film doesn't deserve a good review but it lacks pretention and really shouldn't receive the pasting it received from some reviewers.

1.0 out of 5 stars nothing like the blurb suggestes. 7 Oct 2008
Format:DVD
the film title is missing the words carry on from the beginning it has more in common with carry on films than casanova or whatever film the marketing people thought they were promoting. its just bad.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Bawdy Bit Of Fun
Virgin Terriroty is a film which definitely doesn't take itself too seriously, and so as long as you aren't looking for a classic period drama you shouldn't be disappointed. Read more
