Product Description

Product Description

One of the harshest realities of student life is when you suddenly realise that no-one is cooking for you anymore. But don't despair - there's no such thing as "can't cook, won't cook". Forget beans on toast every night and frittering money on takeaways, there are plenty of tasty and hasty recipes in this book. No matter how strapped for cash, how hung-over or partied out you are, how weary from cramming, there's inspiration galore in this book. It includes essential equipment for the kitchen; tips for a balanced diet; shopping advice; how to boil or fry an egg and great ideas for all-day breakfasts; a selection of one-pot meals to save on the washing-up; super-speedy snacks that beat the munchies and grazing nosh for television watching; a few "posh nosh" ideas for entertaining; vegetarian/vegan recipes; hangover busters; and a cocktail section to get the party started.

From the Publisher

I wish this book had been around when I was a student and having to fend for myself for the first time. The recipes are all extremely simple but interesting and varied, and the symbols are particularly useful, especially if you’re a vegetarian or vegan, or if you just want something that’s going to alleviate your hangover. I love the section called ‘Come to Dinner’, which has loads of ideas for when you’re trying to impress your mates, and the cocktails in the final chapter have to be sampled – though possibly not all in the same evening! This book is guaranteed to bring out the Delia or Jamie you.

What a CookBook! 12 Sep 2004
I Love this cookbook, this is a brilliant guide to your everyday cooking, plus all you need to know about the different fats, carbs, and vitamins within food. This book has helped me more then you will ever know, because believe me, before this book, I could hardly boil an egg, how's that for pathetic!

Very pleased I was given this book. An essential for all impoverished students - packed with nutritious recipes which are easy to follow and, an added bonus, good to eat. Book would make a good present for anyone going off to University or College this year - and who will have to fend for themselves. No need to have tons of fancy equipment - or to scour the shelves for exotic ingrediants. The chapter on hangover cures is invaluable - believe me!

Excellent cook book for all students - easy to follow recipes with easy to obtain ingrediants. Also a lot of recipes for the more proficient cook who does not have a lot of time. Helpful advice on nutrition - and essential for a student - hangover cures. No need to have tons of fancy equipment - or a five ring hob. Book would make a great gift for anyone moving away from home for the first time and having to cook for themselves - and on a limited budget.
