Reviews

Spectacular adventure, exotic locations, beautiful girls, dare-devil heroes, dastardly villains, humour and romance: these are the ingredients of Virgin of the Secret Service, an all-action drama series with a difference!

Set in the early 1900s, when the British Secret Service was a new, unofficial arm of military activity, the series stars Clinton Greyn as the patriotic Captain Robert Virgin - an officer and a gentleman who fights as a man of honour. His assistant Mrs. Cortez (Veronica Strong) is one of the era's few female spies; an attractive, emancipated young woman with contacts in the highest places. Colonel Shaw-Camberley (Noel Coleman) heads the Secret Service, while Fred Doublett (John Cater) is Virgin's redoubtable batman. Virgin's principal adversary is Karl von Brauner (Alexander Dore) - a wily freelance agent willing to work for any side.

Armed only with intelligence, ingenuity, physical strength and abundant charm, Virgin faces every sort of peril as he defends King and Country - from industrial espionage to anarchist bomb plots, assassination attempts to kidnapping. Only one thing is guaranteed: he will encounter danger wherever he goes!

This was a real blast from the past, have been looking out for it for ages. Does seem to be rather dated though.

I'm fond of classic 60s TV but this is really too dated and uncertain in tone- it doesn't seem to know whether or not it's meant to be funny.

It is a dated black and white item, which is definitely showing its age. It is a dated black and white item, which is definitely showing its age.
