Product Description

When Archita Shakya is selected as the Royal Kumari of Kathmandu, she is worshipped as a living goddess. When she is deposed she returns to her family and acquires an education which is cut short during the pro-democracy struggles of 1989-1990. On discovering a plot to murder her after her wedding, she escapes from Kathmandu by assuming a false identity. In England she loses her original identity as completely as she lost her first love ... or so she thinks. However, life has a few more surprises in store ... . This love story is also the tale of a goddess who learns how to become a human being as she grows from a girl into a woman. Anjali Paul was born in Punjab, India. She has always wanted to be a writer and wrote her first story at the age of three. Fortunately, her command of language has improved since then. She has written poetry, short stories, plays and screenplays. She has worked in many fields, and has even managed to work indoors occasionally as a journalist, an advertising copywriter, an independent producer, an arts event and festival organiser, a market researcher, and a customer care representative for a brand of washing powder, during which time she gave penetrating and heartfelt advice on stain removal until she was fired.

About the Author

ANJALI PAUL says,"I was born in Punjab, India. I have always wanted to be a writer and wrote my first story at the age of three. Fortunately, my command of language has improved since then... . I have written poetry which has been published in poetry magazines, written short stories and gained a short story prize along the way, written and produced plays and screenplays as well.

I have a B.A.( Honours) degree in English Literature, and an M.A. in Film-Making. I also have a certificate which enables me to work as a fully qualified yoga teacher, which I gained from the Sivananda Ashram in South India.

I have had a somewhat accident prone life. I have experienced five major accidents, the worst one when I was twenty-four. I was in a fire and suffered third degree burns. Extensive skin grafts left my whole body scarred, except for my face and my back. However, with the help of my parents, I recovered my health and mobility and went on to work in many fields - I have even managed to work indoors occasionally as a journalist, an advertising copywriter, an independent producer and festival organiser, a market researcher, and a customer care representative for a brand of washing powder, during which time I gave penetrating and heartfelt advice on stain removal until I was fired... ."
