Well worth reading over and over again!, 18 Oct 2007

This review is from: Viperhand: Forgotten Realms (Maztica trilogy) (Mass Market Paperback)
This book picks up the action immediately after the events of Ironhelm. Erixitl and Holloran must run if they are to stay alive, but great events are unfolding in the land of Maztica, and Erix and Holloran are integral in what will happen. Captain-General Cordell has seen enough of the golden richness of this land, and he has conceived an audacious plan that will make him the richest man in the Forgotten Realms. But, the very gods themselves are gathering for a showdown, and the fate of the land of Maztica hangs in the balance.
Let me start out by saying that I am a big fan of good old fashioned, swords-and-sorcery fantasy literature. But, if there's one thing that I enjoy even more, it's a story where the author successfully takes the swords-and-sorcery to a whole new milieu. Well, I must say that I think that the author of this book succeeded admirably.
In this book, the author does a great job of bringing pre-Columbian Mesoamerica to life, and then adapting the story of the coming of the conquistadors to it. If you are familiar with the story of the conquest of Mesoamerica, you might think that this book will have nothing new to tell you. But, don't think that! This is an exciting and extremely interesting story.
Overall, I think that this is a great book, well worth reading over and over again...as I have!

I loved this series! first of all to the nay sayers blah on you! it may be a historical rip off of cortez but thats what makes it great! second! each side has both good and bad "guys" but isn't that how real life is? I thought the story was great and the series was better than most of the dragon lance and forgotten realms books i have read, this was one of the last ones i read and now am hunting down the series to buy.
