Its another brilliant book from the new series. This book is funny. It has a lot about Mount St Helens and is full of facts - and if you want to know about what historians found down in Pompeii, you'll get a shock! (here is one - bread still in an oven 2000 years old!)

Congratulations again to Anita Ganeri (i really give it 1,000,000,000 stars (1 billion)

I giggled my way through this book, and learned a lot too. The imagery that it conjures up is fantastic, and it is another Horrible Geography book that my class fight over (quite often with ensuing volcanic eruptions if they don't get it first!) A brilliant book.

`Does Geography grind you down?
Fed up with miserable maps, rotten rock piles and pathetic pie-charts?
Wave goodbye to boring geography lessons as you venture into the fiery world of 'Violent Volcanoes' ......
Marvel! ...at red-hot volcanic rocks the size of cars.
Tremble! ...before geysers that could boil you alive.
Gasp!...at stinky sulphur that smells just like rotten eggs.
Cheer!...for the prisoner who is saved from death by an eruption.
And if that is not violent enough for you....read the diaries of volcano survivors, get clued-up with the spotter's guide to eruptions and plan an explosive holiday with our volcano vacation guide.
It's earth shatteringly exciting!
Geography has never been so horrible!'

128 pages, split over 10 chapters:-

Introduction
A very violent volcano
Horrible hot spots
Going out with a bang!
Spit it out
Violent volcano visitor
Horrible high life
Staying alive
Violent volcano study
Not-so-violent volcanoes?

Written with the typical humour of this series of books, in a variety of fonts, interspersed with numerous black and white illustrations/cartoons.
