Product Description

Amazon.co.uk

Laced with intricate voice samples and top notch production, Jedi Mind Tricks use a different kind of force to deliver a record that hip-hop heads can't stop themselves from feeling. From the gritty string-laden "Retaliation" to the creepy piano and bass on "Contra", this one is strictly for the streets and the underground beneath it. The pianos and guitar on cuts like "I Against I" provide a mellow contrast to the record's mainly up-tempo pace. But throughout, the stars of the show are the vocal samples, with origins in everything from vintage television and film to professional wrestling, that make Violent By Design the banger that it is. The theme throughout is total and complete lyrical warfare. Every rhyme is filled with exploding similes and metaphors that are more than complimented by beats that will never see mainstream radio. But the message isn't about drugs and thugs. Instead the themes are of revolution, survival and overcoming obstacles in the fact of an evil society. --Kenji Jasper

Summed up by the review summary - Simply F***ing amazing - the lyrics are beyond what 99% of rappers today spit - JMD manage to combine a rowdy and constant flow with intelligent heartfelt lyrics - a recording in the Non-Phixion scheme of things - Purchase this album if Intelligent mind blowing hip hop is your thing....
By the way the production is HEAVY......

Proving that underground hip-hop is not only still well and truly alive, but also still producing the cream of hip-hop today, violent by design can only be described as excellent.
Not only do the lyrical flows complement the excellent beats perfectly, but the choice of samples is outstanding. I can guarantee you will not be dissappointed with this album if you buy it, so make it your next purchase!

I bought the JMT albums in the reverse order im sure they came out with the first album I bought was legacy of blood and then visions of gandhi. This was the third JMT album I bought and I thought that visions was a little bit better but after another listen I knew this was THE ONE.It's definetly a classic rap album with amazing songs like retaliation, contra, heavenly design, the deer hunter, gengis khan, war ensemble, the executioers dream and blood runs cold with sean p. The DVD is good as well with live performances, interviews and "I who have nothing" video which made me buy psycho-social after hearing it.JMT is my favourite underground rap group and babygrande must be the be one of the best rap lables with artists like immortal technique,Canibus,demigodz,7l and esoteric and now together Army of the pharaohs.Battle cry is banging right now.

This album is quite possibly one of the greatest hip-hop productions to date! Hip-Hop is dead? Haha, if JMT are still ticking then the Hip-Hop torchlight is very much still glowing bright. Most fans of 'rap/hip-hop', would think that 50 Cent & Jim Jones could conquer the world with there bitterly annoying money & hoes nonsense. Vinnie Paz bring violence, political repungance and religious issues into context. In this album, Vinnie is found at his most aggressive, yet every other JMT is something not to play in front of your gran! The production by Stoupe is simply exceptional and makes Dr. Dre & Scott Storch looks like a pair of clueless girls. Every single song from this album is crafted to perfection and leaves me speachless after every listen. Although every song is a classic, the songs to look out for are, "War Ensemble", "I Against I", "Retaliation", "Heavenly Divine" & "Genghis Khan". Honestly, purchase this album! You don't know what you're missing!!!!!!

I have been a fan of JMT for some time and thought i'd add my two penneth. I got this album many years ago and it just does not tire. The beats are amazing, dark and well layered. There are so many tracks on this album and only one i dont like which is Speech Cobras but I can imagine to someone else its their favorite song. Vinny P and Jus are aggresive and dont pull any punches with lines about gays and killing the pope etc etc. That aside this album is a classic in hip hop and will always stand the test of time.

What can i say, CLASSIC. no faults in this or flaws for myself, although the anti-Catholic and Homophobic lyrics may be offensive to some.
Every track to my personally is an instant classic but ones that stand out for me are "The Deer Hunter" "Sacrifice" "Exertions Remix" and the bonus cut "War Ensemble" Featuring Army Of The Pharoahs (Virtuoso, Esoteric, Bahamadia)
Constant lyrical greatness by Ikon The Verbal Hologram ( aka Vinnie Paz) & Jus Allah (aka Megatraum)
