Universals's decision to import the US picture disc pressing of Sam's Town into the UK and not press it on plain vinyl in the UK is just lazy. I buy vinyl because I want the best sound quality, I buy vinyl because I do not want the loud compressed squash on the CD. So why the hell would I want a picture disc? Most vinyl buyers buy vinyl for the sound quality and pictures discs are rubbish. They sound terrible and have a very short term life. Come on Universal press up Sam's Town on plain vinyl? Hot Fuss is fantastic on vinyl where as both Hot Fuss and Sam;s Town on CD are just compressed squash.

The simple fact is that not enough people buy vinyl for the sound quality. The money is not there to be made and the picture disc is just a collector's item really.
