this does sound different to the old stereo mix , fuller more rounded although still totally distorted. the bass drums and some vocals magically appear from the guitar chaos. however i would still want the stereo mix as i feel some of the guitar parts vanish a bit on the mono mix. and i know leigh stephens was a hopeless guitar player but its nice to fully hear him destroy his guitar amps.... own both i do. 2 quick extra points the new cd of outsideinside is also a must. and vincebus has just been reviewed in record collector mag and the reviewer said " a moderately heavy guitar tone then compared it to deep purple mk 1 " ??????????????? idiot. sloppy journalism. cheers

THIS IS THE BEST SOUNDING RELEASE OF THIS ALBUM

This is by far the best sounding version of this album. You can finally hear the bass and drums. Not just vocals and guitar. The double tracked lead solos are also more defined. You can actually hear each solo in this mix. The fidelity of the album is not any better than any previous release. However, everything does have much better detail. That in itself makes the album more listenable. This release is well worth it if you like this album.

great reissue

just got vincebus eruptum in the mail today and what a treat is reissue is. mono mix sourced from the original philips analog masters, the vocals and instruments are well balanced. i remember when this came out, i was in junior high and had this plastic portable turntable that ran on 8 batteries. i used to lug it around with a couple lps under my arms. we had this plymouth valiant and i would sit in the back seat playing vincebus eruptum on the way to church, making sure the player was level on my lap. those were the days. now a weary old man, i still enjoy listening to blue cheer on obviously better equipment! no extra material, but new liner notes in cardboard foldout sleeve. sundazed did yet another great job reissuing a classic from days gone by. RIP dickie where ever you may be. i'm sure the thunder and lightening are a little louder there.....

The First Metal Album Ever

This is a new release of Blue Cheer's 1968 album. This is exactly what a re-issue should be.
1. An important album worthy of re-issue
2. Mixed and mastered with greater clarity than the original release
Blue Cheer has somehow become lost in the propaganda shuffle as the first true metal band ever. there was simply nothing this heavy in 1968, This re-issue adds greater clarity to the rhythm section of the band, which was an essential part of their heavyness,
the momo mix of this album emphasizes the sheer heaviness as well, while paying respect to the spirt of the original recordings. This re-issue is a must for all metal and classic rock fans.
