5.0 out of 5 stars Handy little pocket guide 13 July 2006
Format:Paperback
I found this pocket-sized guide (great format - why hasn't it been done before??) really useful on a recent weekend break in Vilnius. We'd booked the hotel beforehand, but everything else, including witty, light-hearted, concise reviews of restaurants, cafes, entertainment, plus fascinating insights into the city's gorgeous Baroque and Gothic architecture, was ideal. This little book made our trip to Vilnius that much more enjoyable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Indispensible 6 Dec 2006
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Andrew Dunn has summarised the usefulness of this little book perfectly. It is a much smaller format than I expected (I also have the Bradt guide to Lithuania which is larger, about paperback novel size)and perfect to slip into a pocket. Although I know the city fairly well, I still found the book useful on my recent visit and, as Mr Dunn says, the comments are witty which takes the book above the dry, factual style of many such books

2.0 out of 5 stars Pocket size with print for very good eyes 26 Jun 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
The actual book is very much pocket size and a small pocket at that. It was just too hard to read the print and not finding anything other than we found on the Internet we returned it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not that useful. 20 Jan 2013

Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
There seem to be no good guides published for Vilnius, and they are all out of date. We bought a couple including this one, but neither was much use. The best thing to get, if you are going to Vilnius, is the Vilnius Tourism app from Google Play, I'm sure they've done one for iPhone too. All the tourist info you need on your phone, and an interactive map so you can find where it's all located, and navigate to it from wherever you happen to be. We found it invaluable. I was glad we also bought a map of the city though.

5.0 out of 5 stars Useful little guide 14 July 2006
By Salomeja Neris - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This little guide was a massive help on our recent stay in Vilnius, a lovely, charming city with a gorgeous Old Town. The guide advised us where to eat and what to see in a really handy pocket format (why hasn't anyone thought of this pocket-sized format before?). All in all, an indispensible book if you spend a weekend, week or more seeing this beautiful city.

5.0 out of 5 stars Vilnius 8 Feb 2008
By Terence Janericco - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Another perfect little light weight guide to a European Capitol with enough information for a short stay with walking tours, hotels and restaurants.

Would have preferred a little more of a vocabulary for food items.

5.0 out of 5 stars Vilnius Made Easy 5 Jun 2008
By Gary W. Shanafelt - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I used this little book to plan my recent (May 2008) stay in Vilnius. While the book was published in 2006, it remains accurate, though there are some minor discrepancies (the population is given as 553,000 on p. xiv, but 580,000 on p. 18). I booked my housing based on its recommendations, and used the hotel internet address it gave to make my reservations from the USA. The text is designed for a British audience, but this is hardly evident except that the Lithuanian currency is compared to pounds rather than to dollars. All the museums and restaurants that I visited confirmed the recommendations in the book. Rather than going with a formal tour group to the city, the Bradt guide was all that I needed. The book is not only accurate, but engagingly written. You can trust Jarvis and Taylor, the authors, to guide you to a great time in Vilnius!
