3.0 out of 5 stars Looks great, works well, but fiddly to clean. 17 Mar 2012

Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
I initially thought this might be quite a small capacity food processor as it looks quite diminutive and the product description doesn't mention the capacity (and neither does the actual box it comes in) - but it has a decent sized 3 litre capacity bowl - the same as other 'standard' size processors I've had. The large base makes the bowl look disproportionately small, but it feels very solid and the die cast finish makes it look very stylish - it's the sort of kitchen appliance you'll be happy to leave out on display. But how does it perform...?

The bowl twists to lock onto the base (as with most other models) and is released by pulling a clip on the food chute so that it can then be twisted off again. As well as a set of blades it comes with a handy spatula and two discs for grating and slicing. All of these additional parts store inside the base itself, there is sliding drawer which closes shut so as not to spoil the overall look. The device functions well and the two speeds are more than adequate for me (I rarely use anything other than the fast setting) with a pulse option which is activated by pushing the button on the dial. The handle on the bowl is nice and chunky and makes carrying a full bowl no problem at all.

There are some niggles though. The main problem is with the 'food pusher' which slots into a tube which moves up and down but can't be removed. I've just been making some pizza dough and not being able to remove a part which was covered in dough made cleaning it problematic. Even more annoyingly, this part can only be accessed by opening a lid which is hinged rather than removable - it was a faff to clean and it put the hinge under some strain, it's only a matter of time before the plastic hinge is damaged.

4.0 out of 5 stars An absolute delight to use 13 April 2012

Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
I've had this food processor for a few weeks now and really put it through its paces. I've used it to make salads, sauces, hummus, pastry and pasta dough and am very impressed by its speed and power. It took me a little time to get used to it - it seemed fiddly at first, the bowl was stiff and hard to get on and off when it was brand new, but a little use has eased things considerably and now I find it remarkably smooth and easy to use. I really love the big, easy-to-use on-off knob! No pointless varieties in speed, either, it's either on, pulsing, or off - which is all you're ever going to need. The chopping, slicing and mixing blades are superbly sharp and made an excellent job of every vegetable I put past them - but watch your fingers! They do require great care in handling and washing.

The only glitch in the otherwise easy-to-use design is the hinged lid on the chute, it's the only part of the entire machine that feels flimsy, I'm worried it might break rather easily. It hasn't been a big problem for me, since I haven't found that I needed to use it often, preferring to simply leave the chute open when adding liquid ingredients, and for solids, I prefer to open the main lid anyway. It's an odd addition; I'm not sure why the designers put it there, it seems rather pointless to me, and the only weak link in an otherwise sturdy chain - because everything bar this tricky hinge seems solid and very well made indeed.

The sheer weight of the steel base means the processor does not vibrate or attempt to drift around the counter when in use. The motor is immensely powerful, super-fast; a batch of deliciously smooth fresh hummus took just 30 seconds to make.

5.0 out of 5 stars brilliant 24 Jun 2013

It arrived quickly and was every bit as impressive as the reviews stated.

If there is a slight 'con' its maybe that the feeder is slightly fiddly to clean compared with other brands but, just wash lid and feeder in warm soapy water as soon as possible and hey presto it's clean as a whistle.

Pro's
Its heavy so I can turn my back on it and it doesn't even attempt to travel across the work surface (hurrah)
Its big enough for all my recipes.
It has a drawer to store all the tools which is fantastic for those of us with limited kitchen drawer space.

My advice is just check the height you've got available as it is a tall piece of kit and there is a millimetre between the top of the feeder and my cupboard which opens above it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Heavy duty professional level kitchen equipment 19 Mar 2012

Don't be fooled by the apparent diminutive size of this thing from the pictures. It's a beast. Solidly built from stainless steel, you wouldn't want to drop it on your foot either. This is a food processor in a 1950's style: big, solid, shiny and very powerful. This really wouldn't look remotely out of place is a professional kitchen, and it certainly makes a statement in a domestic setting. If you're serious about your cooking this will demonstrate it admirably.

I'm also very very impressed by it. As simple to use as they come, with a big chunky switch on the front and nothing else. Twist it, and it turns on. If you just want a quick blast, just push the button in the centre of the switch and it'll run for as long as you hold the button down. I found myself using the button pretty much exclusively, as it goes so fast it's very easy to 'over chop' stuff!

Everything clicks together is a reassuringly solid way, and the heavy base means you don't have to worry about it vibrating off the worktop. No suckers are needed on the bottom of this thing, it's going nowhere. It runs with a nice quiet hum, with no rattles or drama. Comprehensive interlocks make it impossible to run without everything closed up properly, so there is no risk of lids flying off or things coming un-hooked.

The only slight downside is the silly lid. The 'plunger' part for pushing food in is moulded into the lid and you can't remove it for cleaning. It's not impossible to clean, but it makes it a bit more difficult than it needs to be. A very silly design oversight, it left me looking for ways to unscrew it, or pop the top off, but no - it appears it's supposed to be like that.
