About the Author
Raymond Lamont Brown is a well-known author and lecturer, with a wide range of interests. During the 1960s he studied at the School of Oriental and African Studies at London University and lived for some time in Japan. Later he lectured at the universities of St Andrews and Dundee and is a regular contributor on BBC Radio Scotland. As well as writing a great deal of local history, Raymond Lamont Brown has written books on Robert Burns, Mary, Queen of Scots, as well as several books of military history. He lives in Broughty Ferry.

I'm originally from Fife & found this book to be a soothing balm for the pangs of nostalgia.
For such a short book the author has packed in a wealth of information on Fife & not only its villages but also its history & culture.
The main body of the book, the listing of the villages, is presented in user friendly alphabetical form & there is also a map to show where each village is located.
There are further gems however in many of the other sections such as "village saints", "Fife Village Year" etc but, for me, the author's best work is the research on many of the lost hamlets & villages.
A good investment & great to browse at leisure; it's also a worthy travel companion if exploring the Kingdom of Fife.
Highly recommended.
