In Hector Villa-Lobos' piano music there is a dazzling account of the endless Amazon landscapes, as welll as the poetic of the rustic wilderness, blended with profound counterpoints roots derived from Bach - by far, his most beloved composer - as a matter of fact, if when Ottorino Respighi wrote the Birds orchestral suite, evoked with pristine neat the bitter sounds of the jungle, in Villalobos there is much than a simple representation; it's the nature talking by itself through his compositions.
In this sense to approach to Villalobos piano music is really to accord oneself and get into a new universe. He was a poet in the most complete meaning of the expression and it is a real pity his music is not widely known.
But I tell to myself this a propitious opportunity for letting it knowing. Try it; and I insure you, that you will never be disappointed.
One additional advise: we arwe talking about Freire one of the most expressive and sublime colorists from Brazil, so it's a wise choice.
