Lieutenant Bak is back, solving another crime in Hatshepsut's Egypt!
Bak investigates and solves a series of murders in a hostile environment, which take him away from his usual frontier post, ferreting out clues in his inimitable style.
Great read. Lauren Haney conveys a down to earth picture of ancient Egypt, through the eyes of a just police Lieutenant, with emphasis on realism (decribes the smells of the streets in terms of the great unwashed, rather than a more romanticised sugar and spices approach) and with a traditional twist in the tail.
If you have read the other Bak books, this won't disappoint - it is the best to date! If you are new to Lauren Haney, best to start with the first book in the series 'The Right hand of Amon'.
