I love Viking history but to find a sexy romantic novel as good as this was great. I really enjoyed it and couldn't put it down.

Loved the characters totally absorbed in the story.

Sorry it has come to an end. Highly recommended .

A good story line and quite different from the usual historical romance. Good pace and did have a few twists along the way. Enjoyable and recommended.

Save yourself - don't read 4 Mar. 2009
By IndieGirl - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Mass Market Paperback Verified Purchase
I love historical romances, especially those involving Vikings. However, I found this book horrible. The whole rape angle I thought was poorly handled at best. I may want to explore a historical time, I don't want to live through a woman's most horrific experience only to have become attracted to the man she believes raped her. The pace was awful and the characters were poorly developed. I enjoy tension between two characters - not over wrought silliness. How date the author throw in those little tid bits about her not able to have a child. It only makes the reader know that a pregnancy is inevitable. The love scenes were awful and the heroines reactions to situation were stupid. If felt like I had been reading this book forever and was only on chapther five. I'm pretty sure I have read books by this author before and never had this strong of a negative reaction. I would run away from this book and never look back.

Connie Mason.... 22 Jan. 2009
By Marky McMark - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Mass Market Paperback
I love Connie Mason's books so much -- they are like getting onboard a runaway train with a handsome stranger -- buck naked! Lots and lots of romance, tons of action and adventure and steamy STEAMY sensual passion. Viking Warrior lacked the adventure and fast pace of her other books. Instead the two principals spend their time talking and arguing and when Ms. Mason runs out of the things to say they hit the sheets. It gets a bit repetitive after awhile. The characters are well developed but I would have liked a bit more action. Not a waste of time, not by any means but this is not representative of the fun books Connie can deliver. Don't give up on exploring other Connie Mason treasures, her books should be cherished and read over and over!

Original in parts and passionate too but missing great characters 31 Oct. 2008
By Melissa - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Mass Market Paperback
For me Viking novels are either a hit or miss. To be a hit the story needs the strong Viking with a tender heart beating beneath his stoic demeanor and usually a captive maiden from distant shores. Some of the elements are in Ms. Mason's novel but somehow they just don't piece together well.

Hero Wulfric is still mourning the loss of his wife and child at the hands of raiding Danes, his hatred for Danes is deep. So he is less than pleased when his brother gives him a bed slave from Constantinople who is a Dane. This slave Reyna is no stranger though, he once raided her longhouse and sold her into slavery.

Reyna is not your typical thrall. She is the daughter of a Jarl and a healer and she remembers Wulfric but mistakenly believes he was the one to rape her. He wasn't another in his party did. Reyna does not act like a slave, in fact, she frequently tells Wulfric she is no thrall and really does not listen to him overly much. She is attracted to him and is unsure why, after all she believes he was the one to violate her. She even saves his life. Her moods were mercurial and I never really understood her motives.

Wulfric at first wants nothing to do with Reyna but she is beautiful and her healing skills have benefited his entire family. He is obsessed with her and resents that his family feels Reyna should either be freed or wed. He will do neither even though he longs for her but he cannot destroy the memory of his wife by marrying a Dane.

Tables are turned on Wulfric however, when Reyna's family rescues her and he is the captured one. This part of the story was fresh but Wulfric still remained his arrogant stubborn self way too long.

Neither lead really wants to communicate their real feelings to the other. There's a lot of passion between them and it felt much more honest on Wulfric's part than on Reyna's. She always seemed to give in to temptation then was upset with herself or Wuilfric later. The two have very little dialogue sharing their hopes and dreams, even their pasts. Reyna does confess that she wants a family and children but beyond that, I never felt like I knew these characters. Parts of this novel are original but I thought Reyna's character needed consistency and Wulfric was just too stubborn.

see for yourself 8 Sept. 2011

Ok the book is really not as bad as some people are saying. I just finished reading it and actually enjoyed it despite what others are saying. it doesn't go into the details about rape so your not living threw a woman's wost fear it mentions it and says how she feels being near wolf because of it(hes not the one who did it by the way)while finding herself attracted to him. also really how well do people in real life communicate? not well so if they came right out and spilled everything it would really take away from the story. all in all i liked it and would recommend it.
