My flat screen TV has HDMI outputs but no standard red/white audio outputs that I need to use my speaker system for TV audio. Is this box a solution? 23 Feb 2014
This has an HDMI input / output, and then the stand audio output, it will take the audio from the HDMI and send it to the RED/WHITE output, which you then plug into an audio source that is not your tv ie a speaker system.
Will this unit work with a NowTV box to extract the 5.1 audio to go via TosLink to my Sony STR-DB1080 6.1 Receiver and give full surround? 27 Jan 2014
If the Now TV box has a standard HDMI output including the audio signal, then the unit will work OK provided that the Now TV box outputs a 5.1 audio signal via the HDMI out. I use the unit to extract a 5.1 audio signal from my computer and feed it to a Yamaha 5 channel amplifier.
They supply a 1/2 amp 5 v psu but unit does not get warm. No spec is given for consumption in spec sheet. Guess it is quite low. Hope this helps
Will this split the audio from a Chromecast to enable it to be connected to a HDMI projector, while retaining the sound output for a speaker system? 12 May 2014
Yes I believe that it will and it would be very easy to do with this item.

Does the unit strip out hi res audio e.g. 24bit/96kHz 2 channel (L)PCM on HDMI and pass to the SPDIF output (for input to a hi res stereo DAC)? 2 Mar 2014
Sorry mate not the most technical with regards to your question but yes it does strip the hdmi audio into 2 channel PCM and gives spdif and standard audio jack output. It does not do Dolby 5.1 or 7.1 though. Hope this helps
Well in this instance it carries Video and Audio to the View HD Box and outputs audio through the optical cable to your amp. But in tests I made I could not always get audio but video only on output hence the ViewHD. So no.
