Product Description

Product Description
Loveable old curmudgeon Dr Moody is a general practitioner in the beautiful Scottish Borders, who writes of his experiences in a regular column in local newspapers. Now, for the first time, he has kindly agreed for his friend and confidant David Carvel to select and assemble the best of these articles for a wider readership. This volume contains a greater mixture of anecdotes and medical cases than adispensary full of pills. It is hoped that they do not leave the reader feeling light-headed, nauseated or having an urgent need to visit the lavatory. Rather, they may be just thetonic you need. Like medication, it is suggested that these vignettes are not consumed in one go; instead it is respectfully advised that the reader returns at specified intervals for measured and theraputic doses.

5.0 out of 5 stars Harking back to a more gentle time, 19 Sep 2008
By Mr. Andrew Thomson (Dunblane) - See all my reviews

View from the Surgery
Dr Ken B Moody reminds us of a time in the past when life was more straightforward, more easily dealt with and more gentle. A time when the country doctor would cure all his patients' ills, sometimes with medicine but more often with a simple truth. Spoken well, always gentle and rarely moody.
This book is an excellent collection of infectious and entertaining stories of a retiring country GP. Not focusing on the fussy medical details but reflecting on the laughter in all our lives.

5.0 out of 5 stars Eee by gum :), 5 Jul 2008
By Mr. A. Coleman "What's a book?" (Peebles, Scotland) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Caring and common sense in a world gone mad with political correctness and a lack of personal responsibilty for our own health and being. There is hope!

5.0 out of 5 stars Warning-this book is addictive!, 26 Jun 2008
The narrative lulls you into a nostalgia for an old-fashioned family doctor, yet the issues are 21st century. He manages a therapeutic mixture of compassion and humour.A gem of a book.
